It’s been one year since our Black National Convention’s multi-hour broadcast connected hundreds of thousands of people to build political power. The #BNC2020 was filled with energy, celebration, education, and electoral justice leading up to the most critical elections of our time. At the 2020 BNC, @angelicaross @ikaylareed & @philsomething unveiled our unapologetically Black national agenda that mobilized communities in service to our vision for Black lives. They channeled the energy from the streets into a meeting place for our ecosystem and shaped a national agenda of political discourse as we prioritized dismantling racism and white supremacy alongside ableism, transphobia, homophobia, and gender-based violence. So much has happened in one year, thanks to the hard work of our organizations and partners that make up our ecosystem. #BNC2020 was a catalyzing moment in history that pushed us forward in this battle for liberation. We voted out bigotry in the election, united after white supremacists stormed the capitol, protected one another in the face of climate catastrophes, and of course, celebrated the beauty, resilience, and self-determination of our beloved community. Black people, you are loved. You are beautiful. You are powerful. You are strong. Together, we have moved mountains, and we will continue to love and support one another as we move many more. For a comprehensive framework for a society that values Black lives, repairs past harms, and invests in Black communities, check out the Movement for Black Lives’ Vision for Black Lives policy platform. Much Love, #M4BL
