🎞️🎞️🎞️ Straight to DVD releases are always met with some amount of trepidation, #Extortion's tension filled race against time seems to have bore the brunt of that anxiety despite the presence, albeit a small one, of Danny Glover and BAFTA winner #BarkhadAbdi (Captain Philips) in a story of one man’s determination to adhere to anything to save the life of his family.
In an al...l too familiar plot line it’s the islands of the Caribbean that take one fairly middle class American family, in which the father, Kevin Riley (#EionBailey), is a Doctor in a small county hospital, and places them firmly in the middle of a vacation hell in a holiday destination that is known not only for its stunning settings but for its crime-ridden horrors.
Directed by #PhilVolken with a building tension that reaches a volcanic climax that comes crashing back down to earth with an almighty thud that leaves you gasping for air, although not quite cinema worthy, Extortion shouldn’t be written off without giving it, its fair dues.

The winners of the 2017 British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) Awards were announced last night, during a ceremony hosted by broadcaster and film aficionado, Claudia Winkleman at Tobacco Dock in London.
The BASE Awards exist to shine a light on innovation and achievement in the video sector celebrating the very best from distribution and retail and act as a benchmark for excellence across the video industry.
The event was attended by close to a 1,000 video indust...ry representatives and included leaders from major and independent distributors, retailers, media owners and agencies.
Universal Pictures UK, The Walt Disney Company, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment UK, Entertainment One, Sky Store and HMV all walked away with multiple awards, with HMV winning retail store of the year for the fifth year running.
Awards were also won by, BBC Worldwide, Arrow Films, Paramount Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment UK, Tesco UK, Amazon.co.uk and creative agency Once Upon a Time.
