MCP is publishing the name of one person a day who has perished in the Mediterranean Sea fleeing past or present wars, most relating to European colonialisation and present globalisation.

Critical Cities Vol 4 was dedicated to them - now we want to say their names - each and everyone.

Please share this image so as many people as possible learn their names.

Hamidou Diallo was just 35 years old when his boat was shipwrecked off the coast of Morocco. He was from the Kolda region in Senegal.

This region, also known as 'Haute Casamance', was occupied, divided and exploited by expansionist French, Portuguese, Dutch and British corporations.

Senegal was a major hub for European Trans-Atlantic Slavery. Senegal´s slaves (people taken from many nations though ports in Senegal) were stolen and then transported to South Carolina, Georgia... and the Gulf Coast followed mainly by Virginia and Maryland etc.

France massacred people that had fought for France in 1944. "In December 1944, between 35 and 70 tirailleurs sénégalais – colonial troops from French West Africa – were killed at a demobilisation camp in Thiaroye, just outside Dakar in Senegal. These were soldiers who fought for France who were then gunned down in cold blood by the French army." http://goo.gl/vdw34v

French bases were reported to have 'closed' only 2010. According to The Economist in 2014 France maintains a permanent base in Senegal - one of "France's main forward operating bases". The Senegalese military force receives most of its training, equipment, and support from France and the United States.
