With a high of 13F, Jan 6 wasn't a good day to find a number of gas leaks in a Long Beach, NY home, meaning Customer Meter Service Lead Steve Massaro had to go above and beyond.

National Grid is prepared for a major winter event forecasted to bring potential blizzard-like conditions tonight: heavy snowfall, damaging winds, and coastal flooding in Massachusetts. Over 200 crews are standing by to assist in New England.
We remind customers to keep phones charged and to always treat downed power lines as a live electrical wire and stay away. Power outages can be reported by visiting the Outage Central section of our website: https://www1.nationalgridus.com/ReportorCheckOutage

We are proud of the National Grid and Feeney Brothers crews, along with the Boston Fire Department, who worked together to keep customers in Roslindale safe and warm in challenging and bitterly cold conditions. The fire on a damaged gas main on Hyde Park Ave. was extinguished shortly before 1:30 today, when we installed a temporary bypass that enabled us to keep gas flowing to more than 8,000 customers in the area.
We applaud our employees and contractors, and our focus is now on replacing the affected pipe. We are thankful our four employees who suffered minor burns on New Year’s Eve are OK, and we thank Boston Fire and our customers for their support!
Wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year's Eve! If you need us, we’ll be here for you: http://ngrid.com/2bnFiJe

While we're hoping for a silent night for all our customers, we're still here in case of emergency, tonight and through the holiday season.
