Although Christmas tree fires are not common, when they do occur, they are more likely to be serious. On average, one of every 32 reported home Christmas tree fires results in a death compared to an average of one death per 143 total reported home fires.

Today representatives from North Carolina APCO and North Carolina NENA visited various members of the NC delegation to the United States Congress, representing and promoting the importance of emergency communications during the annual 911 Goes To Washington.

The Apple Watch includes a safety feature called SOS. When it's turned on, if you hold the Apple Watch side button for longer than three seconds it tells your iPhone to call 911 and then designated emergency contacts. But police say it's causing a rise in accidental 911 calls.
