This year, the subject matter is across the board, giving you a wide variety of interesting topics. Joe Neal, Ph.D., will focus on weed management in herbaceous beds and how to prevent herbicide damage to non-target plants. Matt Bertone will give you the tools to identify immature bugs—as we know that they can often be more damaging than the adults. Barb Fair, Ph.D., will share some new details on proper planting and staking techniques. And, as always, Brian Whipker, Ph.D., has invited a great group of folks speaking on plant management in the greenhouse.

Did you know that the official North Carolina State flower is the flower of the dogwood tree (Cornaceae)? There are three species of dogwoods in North Carolina,... the alternate-leaf dogwood (Cornus alternifolia), the gray dogwood (Cornus racemosa) which is a bush that has simple, elliptical, and opposite leaves, and the flowering dogwood (Cornus florida). This last tree common in the wild and popular as an ornamental!
