In our first two and a half years together, we have toured the country, released two records, seen New York to Los Angeles and all of this we owe to you, the fans, the photographers, the writers who reviewed one of our sets, the friends who... let us crash on their floors and made us a meal. Yesterday was a dream come true; something we won't ever forget and I'm sure we'll tell our kids about. To our new fans, who saw us yesterday for the first time, we're just getting started. "I might be the one guy who hasn’t seen Houston’s New York City Queens yet, so I’ll be checking them out on the Neptune stage at 11:30 on Sunday. The sheer pop goodness that is their song, “Tell Me All About It” should be enough for any Ho...ustonian to make it over for. Everyone in Houston who’s seen these guys will look at you crazily like they do me, when you say you haven’t seen them yet. End those crazy looks like I plan to and catch them at the festival." - Free Press Houston Meer weergeven

Today we honor the memory of Tom's dad, Ken Guth. Ken passed away on Thursday and we will miss him; always. I've known Tom since we were in middle school and whenever I was at their house, I was always treated with love, caring and genuine interest. Ken encouraged Tom's music in the way that every musician hopes their parents would. I remember when Ken and Tom threw party at their house in High Sc...hool and invited all of our friends over. He was a skilled guitar player and always shared his loves of the classics; Paul Simon, Tom Petty, The Beatles, Tears for Fears. That night, we passed the guitar around; his guitar, a beautiful Gibson acoustic; kids our age had only dreamt about playing a guitar like this. He was always selfless with us. He played as we sang along to our favorite songs. Every single time I came over, he would greet me from their living room, get up, and say, "Hey John! How are you man?" Our only dream was to play music together. We've been playing together since we were just kids. He always knew how much that meant to us and never quit supporting us. Last month, he came to see us at a charity event. We played an entire set of Tears for Fears; one of his and Tom's favorite bands. He showed Tom, like so many other bands, Tears for Fears, when Tom was only 6 or 7 years old. Tom's Dad hadn't gotten to see a ton of our shows. It was hard for him to make it from the suburbs where we grew up to the downtown shows so late at night; but he wasn't going to miss this one. When he showed up, his enthusiasm was catching. He was so excited to see us play as Tears for Fears. I'll never forget that. I know Tom won't either. He spoke at length that night as he had on so many other nights about music, comedy, life. I can still see him now; boyish in his energy, with a big smile on his face. We'll miss you Ken; always. Meer weergeven
