A beloved favorite of moms in Koganei (western Tokyo), Nishimaki Gohan is a good 15 min. walk from t...he closest station. But if you’re in the area, it’s the perfect spot for a casual lunch with friends—and kids! Having converted the first floor of her home into a restaurant, the owner remodeled an old Japanese closet into a kid’s play space, which is pretty damn brilliant when you are a hangry mom! The vegan lunch set (980円) is substantial and consistently delicious. Best to book ahead, as the place fills up quickly. Although the menu is vegetarian, all eaters welcome! See More
