The Octonauts' Undersea Adventures - Animated!
We're excited to finally share with you some news of the big secret project that we've been working on for the past few(!) years : "the Octonauts" animated TV series!
For now: we'll give you the 'general' info straight from the PR release. But we'll write more later and will try to make updates about the series / process / work. The TV series is definitely a bit different from the books, but in a cool way. While the books, we allow ourselves to get much more fantastical - the animated series allows us to celebrate and share all the wonderful environments and (real!) creatures under the ocean.
The Octonauts is presented/produced by Chorion, the rights company that does Mr. Men, Olivia, Eric Carle, Noddy. So we're honoured to join that roster.
The series, comprising 50 x 11 min. episodes and a 22-minute special, follows our team of heroes who dive into action whenever there is trouble under the sea. In a fleet of aquatic vehicles, they rescue sea creatures, explore new underwater worlds, and often save the day before returning safely home. All 8 of the Octo-crew will be ready for action including Captain Barnacles Bear; Lieutenant Kwazii Kitten, Medic Peso Penguin, and more vegimals than you can shake a fishstick at.
Based on the richly imaginative books by design team, Meomi, the TV series combines elements of classic team adventure with dazzling CGI animation to transport preschoolers into a world they can’t ordinarily visit…the ocean. The show will arouse the curiosity and feed the imagination of preschoolers, answering questions in a journey of discovery through the world’s oceans.
Executive Produced by Emmy® Award-winning writer Stephanie Simpson and Chorion’s SVP Creative Kurt Mueller. The HD CGI animation is being produced by Academy Award®-nominated Brown Bag Films who are also the producing studio on Chorion’s OLIVIA and Noddy in Toyland.
The Octonauts will launch in 2010 and has been pre-bought by CBeebies (BBC) in the UK, TF1 in France and ABC Australia.
