If you are driving in to the event from anywhere nearby, best plan is to use a Park & Ride lot and take public transportation well outside of downtown, the locals tell us.
Fern Rock Transportation Center @ 900 Nedro Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19141
Fern Rock is a recommended Park & Ride subway station with a lot of parking, do not park in downtown Philly, you will not be able to protect your vehicle. It is NORTH of Wells Fargo though and many are staying in NJ which is south of Wells Fargo, so check out the above link to find various park and rides to catch the train.
BUSES TO DNC Convention
Greyhound is often cheaper. Rally Bus contends it’s prices on par or cheaper for the March (folks just going for the 25th), but on the surface pricier for longer stays. Though after cabs to/fro Greyhound station (Rally Bus is dropping and picking up at Wells Fargo), perhaps not.

For anyone flying in you may be able to save quite a bit by using an app called skiplagg. It basically books a flight with a layover in your destination and you just don't get back on. Cuts ticket prices almost in half since they jacked up rates because of the convention.
Good options for staying close to philly but not in philly is right across the river in New Jersey. We have a train line that costs max 6$ round trip and takes you directly to center city. You can also stay in towns surrounding the train line, uber to the line for cheap then take the train. Takes about 15-45 min depending on how close. From Lindenwold to philly on the map below. PITCHING A SMALL TENT IN THE BACK YARD OF A GENEROUS PHILLY SUPPORTER; We are looking for Philadelphia and suburban area residents who would allow a Bernie supporter to pitch a small tent in their back yard and supply a hose for water and a power cord for cell phones and the use of bathroom. We need to find a way for the residents to indicate they will offer the space for one small tent. Ideas on how to make this happen? connect tenters with residents?

There are 50 rooms reserved for “Volunteers Only - Democratic Convention”, for 4 nights (Sunday-Wednesday). Some rooms have a king size bed w/ a pullout sofa - some have 2 queens and a pullout. $144 per night. Call (610) 594-4770. NOTE: book many rooms for other Bernie peeps as you don’t have to pay until you get there nor cancel until 24 hours before ..so let’s hold the hotels for us ..get calling!! Most are 15 miles out now and it will get much much worse as the day approaches so book now!
AIR B&B AND HOSTEL HOUSES
There are a few airb&b private rooms in peoples homes/apartments for 2 people to share, in city center for less than $200 per night. You could walk to all of the proposed gathering sites. There are also about 10 hostel type houses (Shared rooms within a home) within walking distance of convention center. Looks like $75 and under for 2 people. The Pennsport area of South Philly also has several rooms for rent as of 5/11, for under $100. (If you go to the website and book the last room or find that they are booked, please come back here and delete this - thanks!

WHERE TO BE AND WHEN FOR MARCHING AND OTHER EVENTS:
there will be marches every day (26, 27th and 28th as well) and 28th is YYUGGE to put pressure on their decision making re. the nominee. The "24th" march is not a convention march ...but is part of the "global march for Bernie" you can also participate in if you are in Philly ..it will be in the same vicinity. We will have events likely each night near the venue up to 8pm latest. All of these events will be in around the vicinity of the Wells Fargo Center where the convention is. I am working on an Occupy DNC march for the 27th and of course the all important day of the 28th where we come as a collective to sway super delegates.
