Montgomery County Texas Animal Shelter Volunteer - Conroe Texas
Lend a Helping Paw and consider volunteering at our local animal shelter.
Today, I had my first day of orientation at the MCTAS animal shelter. It was an incredible facility. They take care of hundreds of animals and it was surprisingly clean and bright. If you have the desire or the interest in helping out, it is such a worthy cause, and so rewarding.
Ava Hinson filled everyone in on the importance of each and every job and how desperately they need people to help. There are so many animals that need loving homes, if you are considering owning a pet please think about rescuing a shelter animal instead of purchasing one through a store or private breeder.
I met and walked an adorable male Chiwawa. He didn't have a name yet, but I called him Peanut. Each dog gets so excited when you take them for a walk. Just a few minutes of your time breaks up the terrible monotony of their daily routine in a cage.
What: Animal Shelter Volunteer tasks include: Walking dogs, giving cats TLC, washing pets, laundry, helping vets, transporting, adoption days, fostering, and marketing the animals so that they can find their forever home. You get to select what you feel most comfortable doing and nothing more. =)
Where: 8535 State Hwy 242 Conroe, Texas 77385
When: There are no expected volunteer hours. It really is only as much as you can or are willing to offer. Weekends are key volunteer days, but if you only have an hour or two to spare during the work please consider stopping in and helping out.
Why: With over population because of irresponsible owners we have too many dogs and cats on the streets. Help spread the word about low cost spaying and neutering at the MCTAS. Together we can help brighten the day of one animal at a time.
Please note: Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older or supervised by parents at all times!
