Preliminary Report Released on Clayton Traffic Fatality
A report has been filed by the Clayton Police Department on Saturday’s fatality traffic collision on Amelia Church Road. The investigation indicates that both drivers and the victim that died were wearing safety restraints (shoulder and lap belts). Neither vehicle is believed to have been speeding. The car driven by Kristy Tamayo ran off the roadway to the right before veering back across the center line and colliding with the other vehicle at a near head-on angle. The investigation tends to indicate that contributing factors were inattention, over-corrected / over-steered, and crossing the center line by Ms. Tamayo.
Lieutenant J. B. Hutchins’ report is deemed preliminary, as further investigation will determine charges which are pending at this time.
