More Monkeys
In case you felt last week’s offering was not enough monkey for you, Peter Schaefer is back with more monkeys! To find out more about Peter, visit him on the WotC community site at http://community.wizards.com/wotc_peters
Skill Challenge: Recover Your Stuff
A troop of monkeys has been following the heroes, hounding them, throwing things, and generally making themselves a nuisance. And now, those playful monkeys have stolen something. It might be an important idol that the group has retrieved after much effort, or something with more personal relevance. The players must get the object or objects back from the monkeys with minimal delay by scaring them (Intimidate), impressing them (Athletics or Acrobatics), predicting their behavior (Insight), not losing track of the stolen object (Perception) and fighting fire with fire (Thievery).
Level: 4 (XP 175)
Complexity: 1 (requires 4 successes before 3 failures).
Primary Skills: Acrobatics, Athletics, Intimidate, Nature, Perception, Thievery
Acrobatics (DC 17): The character uses swings on vines and balances on branches with the best of the monkeys to blend in, impress the monkeys, or get them to follow into a trap through imitation.
Athletics (DC 12): The character climbs to the highest local point and remains king of the hill for long enough to impress the monkeys, or throws an object massive and loud enough to scare the monkeys.
Intimidate (DC 7): The character appears huge and scary, driving weaker monkeys away from the leader, or provoking a confrontation with the leader who is holding the stolen goods.
Nature (DC 12): The character knows what monkeys want well enough to distract them, or possibly to trade for the stolen goods.
Perception (DC 12): The character tracks the object successfully as the monkeys toss it back and forth between them, playing the “find the thing” game with this strange hairless tribe.
Thievery (DC 12): The character steals something the monkeys want, such as food or that neat stick, to tease out a trade for the stolen goods, or steals the goods directly.
