Police officers arrest John Patrick Rogers again for restraining order violations
On September 11, 2011, several residents of the Huntington Beach Gables residential complex called the police department to report John Patrick Rogers was again violating the numerous restraining orders issued against him. In January 2010, residents of the complex jointly obtained 28 individual restraining orders due to years of harassment by John Rogers.
In April of 2009, John Rogers was arrested and pled guilty to a vandalism charge against some of his neighbors. He was sentenced to 365 days in Orange County Jail. After his release, he was arrested on May 02, 2010, for violating the restraining orders. He was convicted and sentenced to 180 days in Orange County Jail. On July 22, 2011, he was arrested for violating the restraining orders and posted bail to be released from custody. His next scheduled court appearance on that matter is September 16, 2011.
Yesterday, September 11, 2011, he was arrested again for violating the restraining orders. In addition to setting up a chair outside of the swimming pool where he is restrained from being, he has been sending thousands of public Twitter messages about the multiple people who have restraining orders against him, listing their names, home addresses and telephone numbers. Many of the messages are sexually oriented and blatantly offensive.
Over the past decade, the Huntington Beach Police Department Directed Enforcement Team (DET) has dedicated hundreds of staff hours attempting to get John Rogers professional assistance from various county, state and private organizations. Our goal has been to end this cycle of ongoing neighborhood civil harassment and criminal violations. Despite our efforts, John Rogers has been unwilling to accept assistance. This is the third community John Rogers has moved into in Huntington Beach that has resulted in multiple crimes, arrests and restraining orders.
