New Record Announced!

Just Announced: Despite the continued difficult economic times, the National Association of Letter Carriers announced today that Americans donated a new record-breaking total of 77.1 million pounds of non-perishable food to help their neighbors in need on Saturday, May 8.

Not only did these donations help Stamp Out Hunger by restocking community food banks and pantries, they also pushed total donations collected along postal routes since the drive began 18 years ago to an astounding total of 1,059,800,000 pounds!

Tampa, Florida Branch 599 collected 2,062,529 pounds to take top honors among the more than 1,400 participating branches while West Coast Florida Branch 1477, which includes St. Petersburg placed second, Buffalo/Western New York Branch 3 was third and southern California’s Garden Grove Branch 1100 placed fourth.

Thank you Stamp Out Hunger supporters for all your donations and help spreading the word about the nation’s largest one-day effort to combat hunger. Without each of you this record-breaking effort would not have been possible!

Of course our work is far from done. Make sure to stay tuned for news on next year’s drive coming soon!
