Each month, the United States Olympic Committee celebrates the outstanding achievements of Team USA athletes through the Team USA Awards. For January 2017,

A letter from Gary Jobson, President, National Sailing Hall of Fame:

I am writing to give the community an update on the National Sailing Hall of Fame. Last year at City Dock, we…
• continued our partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools for the STEM Sailing educational program for area high school students,
• put 46 boats on public display at the docks,...
inaugurated an Outreach Program for the African-American community,
• continued the highly-successful Free Sailing Program on Bull and Bear,
• hosted two Recovering Warrior Regattas for wounded veterans and their families,
• organized the 7th Annual Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Race, including demonstrations and events open to the general public,
• and continued to provide public access to the docks.

We have matched the $250,000 planning grant from the State with support from the Merrill Foundation. We also matched the $1,000,000 building grant from the State, and are prepared to match any future support from the State.

We are honoring all agreements previously entered into as we advance to the next step in making our vision a reality. We are required by our lease with the State of Maryland to do a Historic Structure Report on the facility.

We have held six Hall of Fame Inductions and now have tremendous national support. Our Board members are from Maryland, the District of Columbia, California, Washington, Louisiana, the District of Columbia, South Carolina, Michigan, Rhode Island, Colorado, Georgia, New York, Connecticut and Florida.

The new facility on the Annapolis waterfront will provide a link between City Dock and the United States Naval Academy Visitors Center as well as a new destination for visitors to Maryland. It will be an important new asset to enhance the economic well-being of Annapolis.

We want to thank those at the State of Maryland, City of Annapolis and in the private sector who support the home for American sailing in Annapolis.
