The Traffic and Highway Patrol Command has suspended the licences of... two drivers – including one holding a P2 provisional licence – after they were allegedly detected travelling twice the speed limit on Sydney’s motorways.
Just before 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 2 July 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M4 at Granville, when they detected a Subaru Impreza sedan travelling 162km/hr in an 80km/hr zone.
The vehicle was stopped, and officers spoke with the driver, a 22-year-old Seven Hills man. He was issued an infringement notice for exceed speed over 45km/hr and had his licence suspended.
About 3.30pm yesterday, an Audi sedan was detected travelling 196km/hr in a 110km/hr zone as officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M1 at Maddens Plains.
After the vehicle was stopped, the driver – a 26-year-old man – produced a P2 provisional driver licence.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive at a speed dangerous to the public and exceed speed limit over 45km/hr (P2 special speed limit). His licence was also suspended on-the-spot.
The Kirrawee man is due to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 29 September 2020.
