ATTENTION all friends of public education!
After West Virginia, after Oklahoma, after Colorado, after Arizona - Texans, it's our turn to stand up for public education and hold our state leaders accountable. Enough is ENOUGH.
That is why we are proud to announce that on May 19th Texas AFT, Mike Collier, and Texans for Public Education will be holding a Rally for Public Education for all teachers, parents, students, and all those who care about public education across the sta...te of Texas. Join us at Discovery Green in Houston as we stand up for a first-class public education system and hold our leaders accountable. It is time we tell our state leaders that we as Texans will no longer settle for 43rd. It is time that we tell our state leaders that we will no longer remain silent as they defund our schools and bankrupt our retirements. It is time that we show our state leaders: Don't mess with Texas Public Education.
Please share the event and invite all of your friends, family, and colleagues.
Here is the full video of tonight’s debate, in case you weren’t able to see it via livestream.
Oak Forest Are Democrats had their Monthly Meeting on May 7, 2018. Senator John Whitmire was our speaker, we are always glad to hear from our Senator. Elections of officers was held, per the bylaws and the new Officers for 2018-2019 are President: Wes Hart, Vice-President: Steve Nolin, Secretary: Mary Schlett, and Treasurer: Kara Rutledge Hagen.
The Board is eternally grateful for Steve's and Mary's continued commitment and service to our club. We are equally grateful for R...andy Bates' leadership and bringing our organization to where it is today and we look forward to his continued energy to the club. Randy was a champion of many things that Oak Forest Area Democrats did, such as beginning the club's Voter Registration Drive in Oak Forest and surrounding areas. We thank him for his commitment to this critical component of the election process and can't wait to welcome him back for our future events.
Chris Morton has been a constant force behind the club in his role as Treasurer. He had stepped down as Treasurer to run for Office and we look forward to his continued support of OFAD, as well as supporting him in his successful bid for District Judge, 230th Judicial District. If you know Chris, you know him to be a solid, consistent and fair individual who always follows through on his word. As Treasurer, he was a rock, he kept our books in order and he also kept our membership in order and current. We will always look forward to seeing him in our meetings as an important community member (AND forwardlooking) elected official.
Oak Forest Area Democrats is home to many of Houston's Elected Officials, both past and present. However, we welcome all from the surrounding areas, as well.
