The Pulitzer Prize-winning poet says she plans to use her new role to meet people who don't read poetry ... yet, anyway. She believes poetry can be a resource for people in fraught or isolating times.

Following their imminent Ó Bhéal reading on 24th July, the next evening Tues 25th we'll be bringing our guest poets from Coventry, Andrea Mbarushimana and Russ Berry (along with a number of Cork poets), to DeBarra's Folk Club Clonakilty - to read at the hugely popular Psoken Wrod poetry night. With special thanks to Nick Smith for arranging this extra event for our Cork-Coventry twin city poetry exchange. It's promising to be a superb evening. Cork poets - let us know if you need a lift and we'll do our best to find you one!

Psoken Wrod added 16 new photos.

The Glorious 4th passed even more glorious at the pSoken Wrod last night in de Barra's, Clonakilty. A raft of new faces, some of whom seemed a little bamboozled... at the off soon settled into the swing, with newcomer Colm Lennon winning the 5-Wrod Challenge (quagmire, chocolate, regret, effervescence, fruit) together with some serious contenders, aptly judged by Carl Plover and Linda Plover.
Talking of whom, they as Wasps v. Humans went on to the wow-factor with an intense, thought provoking and varied set, a performance, excellently executed on drum, bodhrán, free-range vocals and readings from Carl's latest novel, The Mattress. What does this man not do? Certainly blew away a few cobwebs. pSoken may be seeing his play, sometime in the future. Moze M. Jacobs teased W v. H with her usual array of probing questions in her Stand-Up Interview.
(To hear more go to http://clonlineradio.com/podcast/moze-talks-to-carl-plover/ )

The open mic followed with thanks to all who took part, Darren O'Callaghan, Chris Taylor, Sebastian Revon, Afric McGlinchey, Anne Morgan, Michael Ray, Moze M. Jacobs, Anton Floyd.
Thanks to de Barra's, Cork Co Co Arts' Office, all those who contributed in any way shape etc, coins to the Wrod Pot et al.

Now, there is an additional treat this month in that on Tuesday July 25th, 8.30 p.m. the Psoken Wrod is playing host to a contingent of poets from the UK under the guidance of Paul Casey and Ó Bhéal. This is going to be an action-packed and stimulating evening (well, they all are actually) so put the date in your dairies now.
Then August 1st, Edward O'Dwyer, eclectic poet with two collections and world-wide publications. More anon.......NOW - Spread the Wrod.
