Every 10 years, the United States is required by law to count the number of people living in the country. This nationwide count, known as the census, takes place once again in 2020. Although the census occurs only once every decade, it plays a vital role in our daily lives.
Among other things, the census helps determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds are distributed among states, counties, and communities across the country. These funds help build new roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals; support our emergency responders; and much more. See More
