Healey Willan: Rise up, my love, my fair one

This is going to be a fantastic event. Already 80 local singers have signed for our workshop, and then to join us in singing Brahms's Requiem on the evening of 18 November. We'll also be singing a few pieces from our earlier concerts in 2017, in case you missed them. Come along to St Mary's, Swanage at 7.30pm to hear over 100 voices singing the wonderful Requiem.

Last Saturday my first concert directing The Orlando Singers took place in Wells Cathedral. This was the first item, one of many lovely works in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, from six centuries.

A workshop open to all singers, learning Brahms' Requiem in a day alongside the accomplished Dorset chamber choir, The Orlando Singers, directed by David Fawcett. The day will end with a performance (with organ accompaniment by Simon Lole). The first half of the concert (beginning at 7.30pm) will showcase works sung by the Orlando Singers in other concerts in their 2017 and 2018 Seasons.
