Here is the latest snowfall map representing accumulating snowfall.
The north bay will miss out on this as the air will be traveling over land.
But the fl...ow south of San Francisco should be ever so slightly onshore bringing us “ocean effect showers”.
It will be a real close call. The slightest wind shift would keep the moisture along the coastal mountains only.
My gut feeling is that somewhere in the valley, flakes will be flying in the air by tomorrow morning.

ARCTIC VORTEX IN CALIFORNIA?
It’s coming our way!
You may have heard the term “Arctic Vortex” before. And if you have, you’ve likely heard it referenced to ...somewhere in the eastern half of the country.
But NOT in California.
About two weeks ago a very rare meteorological phenomenon called “Sudden Stratospheric Warming” was predicted to occur above the Arctic and consequently weaken and displace the polar vortex.
To the meteorologists surprise, the computer models moved this vortex to the west to western Canada then south along the pacific coast. Usually, the polar vortex moves south to the eastern half of the country when displaced.
After many days of similar model simulations, the forecasts have changed to reflect this anomaly.
As of this writing, about half of the computer models bring snow to sea level with accumulating snow above 500 feet..... which would include our Jackson Oaks and Holiday Lake residents.
This would be during our morning commute Monday.
Every model run, which is ran every 6 hours, continues to increase precipitation totals AND lower temperatures for this event for the past three days!
Up to 6” of snow is expected in the Santa Cruz mountains with just under a foot for the hills above Big Sur.
Record lows are likely Tuesday and Wednesday morning with readings ranging from 20-25 degrees.
This normally would not be cause for alarm for Morgan Hill but considering most fruit trees have blossomed already due to record warm weather, this could be quite a damaging freeze event.
In the longer run, very cold and progressively wetter storms are forecast at the end of the month into March.
I think our local hills.... including Henry Coe State Park.... will be quite white by March 1st.

It will have a huge impact on Morgan Hill, too, if approved!
