Scout Law Game Part 2
Scout Law Game

In addition to the Pinewood Derby, a representative from the district will be making the annual Friends of Scouting presentation to ask for your support of the local Scouting program. Friends of Scouting funds support our local Baltimore Area Council and all of the services they provide. From the flyer your son first brought home to recruit him into Scouting, the camps we use for activities, to the Campership program that helps to send underprivileged and deserving Scouts to, all are funded in part by the Baltimore Area Council Friends of Scouting program. Our council spends about $185 per Scout above and beyond the yearly chartering fee we all pay.

We know that many things compete for your dollars but would like to ask you to consider joining us in making an investment in youth development through the Friends of Scouting Campaign. Corporate and outside donations are more difficult to come by each year and it is important that we directly support the program that is impacting our children every day. You can make a pledge at the presentation and pay it whenever and however you want in 2018 or make a donation that night by cash, check or credit card. All Friends of Scouting donations are 100% tax deductible. Thank you in advance for your generous support and for choosing the Scouting program as an adventure for your family.

Better late than never. A bunch more pics from the Klondike Derby - Cub Scout Trail

It is time for us to start registering and planning for Cub Scout Day Camp. This camp is June 25-29 at the Howard County Fairgrounds.

At this camp, scouts will get to shoot on the Archery and BB ranges, singing Scout songs, learning knots, making crafts, playing sports, practicing camping and Scout skills, performing science experiments and working on their Whittling Chip. Your Scouts will have a chance to work on many activities that count toward their next rank advancement... while making new friends and having a great time. This camp goes from 8:00-4:30 each day and the cost is $170. If you want to send your scout to camp, you must volunteer for at least 1 day. The number of scouts we send determines the number of volunteers we must provide. For example, if we send 8 scouts, we have to provide a 5 day volunteer (the same person must come every day). In addition, for every 4th scout we send, we have to provide a volunteer for every day (can be made up of several people).

The Pack Coordinator is responsible for communicating with the pack about camp, collecting applications (making sure these are complete), and making sure we have enough volunteers.

Without someone volunteering to be the Pack Camp Coordinator, OUR PACK CANNOT ATTEND DAY CAMP.

An email was sent. If you can volunteer, please reply to the email.

We will need to get a solid head count on who will be attending the Klondike Derby on Jan 27. The cost in $15 per scout and $5 for non-BSA adult.

This is a hike through McKeldin Patapsco Park for 1.5 miles with activities throughout. The AOLs will also need to pull a sled. The entire event takes about 3-4 hours. If you are not familiar with cold weather hiking, corner any leader at the next pack meeting and we can help. In short, stay away from cotton and layers are key.

We d...on't have our start time yet but we asked for one in early afternoon as a few scouts had conflicts earlier.

We must car pool. When you RSVP, please indicate if you can help with car pooling.

Thank you!

Happy New Year!!!

We still need volunteers for planning Blue and Gold banquet. This is simply planning a party and we will give you direction. You would meet with other planners a few times before the event to discuss details (food, decorations, activities) and then help out on day of event. We have done this before so you will not be flying blind.

We have a committee meeting next Tues, Jan 9 at 7:00 at Waverly Pool House. All parents are welcome to bring input and ideas. If... you are interested in helping, this is a great time to come get more information.
