Everywhere you look in the month of November you are surrounded by colorful leafs falling to the ground. November’s birthstone (Happy Birthday!) CITRINE does an amazing job at capturing that warm Fall feeling. It is also the gem for the 13th and 17th Wedding Anniversary. Citrine is a variety of Quartz ranging in colors of yellow, yellow-brown, orange, dark orange-brown, reddish-brown. Most Citrine comes from Brazil, but most of the Brazilian material is heat-treated Amethyst. Natural Citrine can be found in the Ural Mountains of Russia, in France, and in Madagascar. It is believed this Gemstone promotes creativity, helps with your personal clarity and eliminates self-destructive tendencies. Citrine also is said to be of help for backaches.
Most people have never heard of AMETRINE and are very surprised to see Purple and Yellow in a single transparent gemstone. Ametrine is a rare gemstone found in just ONE mine in the world! It is a variety of bicolor quartz that has zones of Amethyst (purple) and Citrine (golden-yellow) “melted" together (by Mother-Nature) in a single crystal. The words AMEthyst and ciTRINE were combined to yield the name "AMETRINE" - which is widely used in the gemstone trade. AMETRINE is the national gemstone of Bolivia and it is a relative newcomer to the gemstone trade.
