21 February-This Just in: Attention
Scammers pretending to be with the American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces are targeting military families in Maine. The scam involves fake claims that the families should pay the Red Cross $750 to have the luggage of deployed loved ones shipped home. The Red Cross is NOT making these calls.
Service to Armed Forces (SAF) provides assistance to military families free of charge. The military ships the baggage of deployed personnel home. I...nformation from deployed locations is transmitted through military chains--not by the Red Cross
