“The bulk of transgender people are law-abiding citizens that do not wish to harm others,” Jim Minnery, president of the Anchorage-based Alaska Family Action, said a week ago at a luncheon sponsored by his agency at the Petroleum Club. “Prop 1 is not about a fear of transgender people. It is about the opportunity created by the current law for criminals to abuse that to harm others.”
"For two years there has been no issue with the Non-Discrimination Ordinance as it is written, in bathrooms or any other changing spaces. Proposition 1 would change how a person's sex is viewed for all municipal policy, facility, and procedure."
