Lucio with West Order

One of Storm Cat's very best daughters, Magicalmysterycat, is the mother of our resident stallion A.P Magic. This is the blood of Secretariat.

The legacy of the late, great US sire, Storm Cat, has been felt the world over
Trading was brisk, and prices high, at the inaugural Cape Thoroughbred Sales Mare and Fillies For Stud Select Sale, which was held at Highlands Farm in Robertson, on Friday. Of the 73 lots offered, 65 were sold for a aggregate of R27,995,000, and the one day sale boasted an impressive average of R43...

This son of champion race horse and stallion, A.P. Indy, just keeps getting more majestic aand we love his babies.

We are currently racing one of his daughters in Florida.

Died due to injuries from a paddock accident.

"The thoroughbred yearlings sold at the sales can fetch millions and historically go on to compete on the international and local horse racing circuit, including races like the Durban July, J&B Met and L’Omarins Queen’s Plate."

The annual National Yearling Sales was a success with some of South Africa’s top yearlings selling for millions.

A.P Indy, one of the great stallion of the last 100 years.

Wishing the amazing A.P. Indy a very happy 27th birthday. A champion racehorse and a champion sire, he seems quite content in his retirement at Lane's End Farm, which is also where he was born and raised.

Thoroughbred Info

Congratulations to California's own California Chrome ($12,532,650) on becoming the highest-earning North American racehorse in history with his emphatic victor...y in today's $10 million Dubai World Cup (G1) in the United Arab Emirates! Check out this great photo by our friend Michele MacDonald -- his saddle girth slipped back to roughly the same area where bucking straps are placed on bareback and saddle broncs for rodeos. That is one well-trained horse! (And quite a rich one too.)

New foals of 2014. We raise sound race horses, the old fashion way- out on the land and not in a box.

We must have had a crystal balls years ago when we purchased West Order, a son of Gone West. Then we purchased A.P. Magic, a son on A.P. Indy who's dam is a daughter of Storm Cat. Now leading thoroughbred magazine, Bloodhorse reports that the bloodlines of three stallions are at the top three broodmares in North America.

A. P. Indy, Storm Cat, Gone West, Dehere, and Chief's Crown all have Secretariat as their broodmare-sire, and thus enjoy his outsta...nding dam, Somethingroyal, as well. In future we will surely see this group of stallions combined in pedigrees that load up on the blood of Somethingroyal, particularly when the blood of her other fine son, Sir Gaylord, is added to the equation (as it is already in A.P. Indy, whose dam is 2x4-Somethingroyal).

It is just beautiful when a plan based on research years if research and tons of passion all comes together and is confirmed by the industry leading publication.

Winter has arrived on the farm

Seattle Slew sired A.P. Indy, the sire of our stallion A.P Magic. The blood of this sire-line that will bring soundness back into the thoroughbred breed in North America and other regions of the world. Too many generations of inbreeding of Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer have weakened the bone structure of racehorse. We all know what happens next. Look for the first foals of A.P. Magic on the tracks in South Africa later this fall.

While Seattle Slew did well crossed back to almost any of the major strains in his pedigree, he was particularly effective when bred to mares carrying Buckpasser in their pedigrees.

The cool air of winter has began to flow over the mountains
