Political conflicts distort and disturb a people's sense of distinction between matters of importance and matters of urgency. What is vital is disguised by what is merely a matter of well being.

one person arrested for
threat calls to Ashok
Khemka
Press Trust of India | Updated:
November 03, 2012 00:42 IST...
Chandigarh: Senior Haryana IAS
officer Ashok Khemka, who stirred
a political storm by alleging
irregularities in the Robert Vadra-
DLF land deals, on Friday said he
had got two threat calls within a
fortnight and accused the police of
not taking any action.
Late on Friday night, the Haryana
police said it has arrested one
person who allegedly made a
threat call to Mr Khemka.
Panchkula Deputy Commissioner
of Police (DCP) Parul Kush Jain
told PTI that Umaid Singh had
been arrested after verifying the
call details in this connection.
Umaid Singh was ans employee of
the Haryana Housing Board and
was dismissed from service by Mr
Khemka in 2006 when he was
administrator of the board, she
said.
The arrest had been made in
Gurgaon, she said. Umaid Singh is
a resident of Gurgaon.
Earlier, Mr Khemka said, "I fail to
understand why police is taking
time to identify the caller...police
is wasting precious time...it is
unprofessional on the part of
police."
Mr Khemka claimed to have
received two threat calls.
On whether he will press for
security cover in the wake of
threat calls to him, he said, "I don't
think security cover will help in
stopping such calls."
Police earlier registered an FIR
under sections 506 (criminal
intimidation) and 509 (act intended
to insult the modesty of a woman)
of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
against unknown person in
connection with the threat calls
and also sought help of cyber
experts to track the caller.
"The caller, according to the
complaint, used abusive language
and threatened Khemka," Nupur
Bishnoi, in-charge of Panchkula's
Sector 5 police station, where the
complaint has been lodged, said.
A fortnight back, the 1991-batch
IAS officer's friend and noted
lawyer, Anupam Gupta had said
that Mr Khemka had received
threat calls from unknown people.
Mr Khemka was transferred from
Director General Consolidation of
Land Holdings and Land Records-
cum-Inspector General of
Registration to his present posting
in the State's Seed Development
Corporation shortly after he
initiated a probe into land dealings
between Mr Vadra and realty giant
DLF.
A probe report submitted by four
deputy commissioners in Haryana
have given a "clean chit" to Mr
Vadra over his land deals.

Ashok Khemka questions police
'failure' to nab caller
Press Trust of India | 02-Nov 18:10
PM
Chandigarh: Senior Haryana IAS...
officer Ashok Khemka, who claimed
to have got two threat calls within a
fortnight, on Friday, questioned the
functioning of the state police over
its alleged failure to nab the caller.
"The Panchkula ACP calls me and
tells me that she will take my
statement...I fail to understand why
police is taking time to identify the
caller...police is wasting precious
time...it is unprofessional on the
part of police," the officer said.
Khemka, who is in the news
following the recent controversy
over land deals involving Robert
Vadra, has claimed to have received
two threat calls. On state Chief
Secretary PK Chaudhery having
called him following the threat
complaint to Panckula Police, he said
that "as long as police identify the
caller and nab him and take a legal
action against him it is fair enough."
"I don't know why the CS has called
me... but I will meet him either this
evening or on Monday," he said.
He questioned why police is waiting
when the matter was reported to it
on October 30. "Are they waiting to
let loose the man...erase call
details...it is not a big task to nab the
caller when his number has been
provided to police," he added. On
being questioned whether he will
press for security cover in the wake
of repeated threat calls to him, he
said "I don't think security cover will
help in stopping such calls." "The
security cover is more like a
paraphernalia...a kind of show," the
1991 batch IAS officer said.

Someone wants to cover up for
Vadra:
PM
Chandigarh: Transferred Haryana
IAS officer Ashok Khemka, who...
cancelled the mutation of Congress
President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law
Robert Vadra's Manesar land, has
taken on the Haryana government.
Khemka told CNN-IBN that the
Haryana government is encroaching
on the jurisdiction of the Punjab and
Haryana High court by setting up a
three-member panel to probe his
order.
Khemka said that IAS officers have
no jurisdiction to probe orders
passed by the DG Consolidation -
the post he held before his transfer.
Khemka said that he hasn't spoken
against government policy but
against corruption, nepotism and
crony capitalism. Khemka alleged
that some individuals in the Haryana
government wants to cover up and
put aside his order probing land
undervaluation.
"Some crooks in the government
want to interfere by creating a
committee to give it the face of a
probe. Someone in the government
wants to cover up and brush aside
the orders I passed checking for
undervaluation and cancelling the
Robert Vadra-DLF mutation,"
claimed Khemka.
He further added, "Jurisdiction of
the High Court is being encroached
upon and usurped by creating this
committee. Topmost statutory
authorities in Haryana are inspector
general of registration and director
general land consolidation. The only
recourse is to move the courts. They
are not doing that, but forming a
committee. IAS officers have no
jurisdiction to probe orders passed
by the DG Consolidation."
"I haven't spoken against
government policy. I have spoken
against corruption, nepotism and
crony capitalism which is not
government policy," clarified the
Haryana IAS officer.

Under Central Government schemes
like MGNREGA, Govt. of India funds are
released to all the states for
implementation of the scheme....
Releasing funds for the Central
schemes is not a matter of charity. This
is a pure governmental activity.
I would invite your attention to Para 4
of the letter uploaded. The statement is
clearly vindictive, unethical and
unconstitutional. I am really stunned to
see that a Union Minister can write a
distasteful statement like this to a State
Government. This

Whistleblower IAS officer's report
on Lavasa project ignored by
Maharashtra
National
A whistle-bowler in the Lavasa case,...
former IAS officer Ramesh Kumar
says he had submitted a report in July
2010 to the Maharashtra government
on the many irregularities in the
project. Mr Kumar's role in exposing
the scam was highlighted by retired
police officer and lawyer-activist YP
Singh yesterday, when he "exposed"
the Pawar family's role in Lavasa
project and accused them of "money
laundering."
Mr Singh had also hit out at Mr
Kejriwal and said he had repressed a
"mega-scam" starring Sharad Pawar
and set in the controversial hill town
of Lavasa, being built near Pune over
25,000 acres at a reported cost of
3,000 crores.

Attorney General advises govt not
to seek legal immunity for PM in
coal scam Attorney General GE Vahanvati
has advised the government against
going to court to seek exemption for...
Dr Manmohan Singh from FIRs or
police complaints being registered by
the opposition BJP across the country
in connection with the coal swindle.
The government is likely to accept his
opinion.
The government is concerned that
the Prime Minister could be
questioned by the police in
connection with the coal scam, worth
1.86 lakh crores according to the
national auditor.
So it was keen to ask for immunity for
Dr Manmohan Singh, say sources.
The BJP has launched a high-volume
campaign against the Prime Minister
because he was in charge of the Coal
Ministry when some coal blocks were
allocated at below-market rates. The
auditor or CAG said in a report in
August that the method of allocation
lacked transparency, but did not indict
either the Prime Minister or his office.
