Cool photo op with the model, Kelley, and Master artist Donato with his original "Joan of Arc" painting that he was generous and gracious enough to bring in from Brooklyn for the last day of filming.

We were going for the serious look. Hence, Donato is not smiling which is definitely not his norm. He is a serious true living master artist. However, with a heart and smile of gold.

Kelley Hensing is quite the artist herself and will have a scene in Art of The Fantastic. ...

Thanks to all involved. It was a great shoot.

"I've always felt this pull on my art toward activism. That's why I always say I'm an activist first" Filmmaker Nate Parker discusses his film The Birth of a Nation, the power of art to spark change and #Sundance 2016

Atlas Film Productions LLC added 42 new photos to the album: ART OF THE FANTASTIC Journey to Completion.
January 17, 2016

I am proud to announce that the film, "ART OF THE FANTASTIC", is now complete. More as we work on distribution in the upcoming months.

This is a documentary film focusing on the genre of art known as imaginative realism, which falls under the category of illustrator art. This type of art dates back some 17,300 years to the Caves of Lascaux of Southern France. Bosch Can bee seen as the father of this genre of work which has extended throughout the centuries to include the like...s of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Bouguereau, Waterhouse, Howard Pyle, N. C. Wyeth, Norman Rockwell to Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Michael Whelan, Donato Giancola, just to name a few.

It is the intention of this film to show the importance of the contemporary artists and their works as part of our social daily consciousness and culture while making that connection to artists of antiquity who are looked upon as masters or geniuses with their works virtually priceless.

We are now starting to see a resurgence and greater acceptance of contemporary illustrators of imaginative realism both commercially and critically with more museums opening up their doors to exhibiting such works. This genre of art is all around us. In film, television, major novels. It has become part of our social consciousness and culture and is gaining in popularity and appreciation as a serious art form. It is also the intention of the film to convey this to a broad audience with the hope of fostering a new found appreciation of the genre. And, perhaps, act as an inspiration to a younger generation of artists to pick up the paint brush again. To stand on the shoulders of giants and carry forth the art of traditional painting of imaginative realism, telling their stories that may someday also influence future generations
