We recently had the new RS Focus in for some Dyno testing and tuning. The new RS features a Ford Performance 2.3 twin scroll turbocharged EcoBoost engine derived from the Mustang. Tuning this wasn't going to be easy, Ford Performance have already squeezed out 350bhp!

This particular model came to us with prototype mods (designed on this very vehicle for development) such as an Intercooler and Intake from Forge and a complete bespoke Cobra Exhaust system.

After several differe...nt setups and runs, programming then running again - we started to make progress. We made an astounding 390BHP with the Cobra exhaust and Forge Intake fitted. That said, we think for this Stage 1 setup the stock engine would be almost capable as is - it's a well pieced together engine! Of course we expect to have it back for Stage 2 once we have a bigger turbo setup, and get the full use of a larger intercooler and exhaust.

How many of us have often wondered what a 389.3BHP APR Stage2+ Cupra R sounds like?

After coming in for a remap a few months ago, seeing the PD105 increased from 105bhp to 143bhp wasn't enough. We diagnosed a common vacuum problem on this engine, which leads to turbo over-boost. Instead of fixing it as advised, the customer saw this as an excuse for a bigger turbo.

Back only a couple of weeks ago, we fitted a unique type of hybrid to this one - looking at the dyno, there's virtually no lag, and ...the pull is so linear.
