Barrington friends - we really need your help today! The currently proposed Barrington Town Budget for next fiscal year (18/19) proposes a 36% cut to the already tiny animal control budget. The $5,000 cut is truly insignificant in the grand scheme of the town's $75million budget. It does nothing to balance the budget or reduce rising tax rates. But, the cut could have a devastating and completely unnecessary impact on efforts to ensure good outcomes for lost and stray animals... in town.
Last night Barrington PAW submitted a request to the Commitee on Appropriations asking that they restore the cut before presenting the final budget to the town at the May financial meeting. We are asking Barrington residents to sign the petition below indicating your support of BPAW's request. We need you to sign and share TODAY so that we can bring the names of those in support of this request to the COA meeting happening this Monday, April 9th. Many more details and an opportunity to lend your support are presented below. Sign and share, share! Thank you!
Lawmakers can pass bills, the RISPCA can investigate, BUT if our state prosecutors and judges won't take animal abuse seriously then not much will change!
