Bridgetown Fire Department had a great honor tonight to present our Chief Jerry Sides with some awesome items recognizing his many years of service. This is the man who had the vision to provide fire protection to the Bridgetown Community and in 1976 he made that vision a reality. First, the section of Malone Rd. between Pleasant Hill Rd. to the fire dept. is dedicated to Chief Sides. Second, we dedicated Bridgetown Fire Department Station 3 to Chief Sides for being the only... fire chief since it opened in March 1976. Third, Chief Sides was given the State of Mississippi Flag that flew over the the State Capitol on the 12th day of January 2017. From all of us at the fire department and the great Bridgetown Community, we would like to say THANK YOU for your 40 years of service, hard work, dedication and leadership Chief. We look forward to what you have in store for the years ahead.

It is with GREAT PLEASURE that I announce the fact that the Bridgetown Fire Dept. has earned a Class 6 rating from the Mississippi State Rating Bureau (which is the lowest among all volunteer departments in Desoto County). This change was effective June 8th.. We were previously a Class 10 and 10C in some areas. So with that being said, if you are within 5 miles of the Bridgetown Fire Dept., you should contact your Insurance Company immediately and make sure they are aware ...of this and see what you "new" REDUCED rate will be. We think you will be "pleasantly" surprised. THE MEN OF THE BRIDGETOWN FIREFIGHTERS ARE TO BE COMMENDED IN HELPING TO MAKE THIS ALL HAPPEN BY VOLUNTEERING COUNTLESS HOURS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS!!!

P.S. If you haven't paid your annual fire dues, please remember to send them in today. The dues are a mere 36.00 annually and can be mailed to the Bridgetown Fire Dept. P.O. Box 231, Nesbit, MS 38651 OR dropped in the mail slot at the station. If you have any questions, please call our 24 hour phone line at 662-812-9772. If we don't answer, please leave us a message and your number, and we'll be glad to return your call!

We all need to remember that tomorrow will be 14 years since the tragic attack on the U.S. and all the victims that were lost that day. Say a prayer for the all the families that suffered that loss. We also need to pray for all the men and women that are the first responders with all the stuff that is going on today.

We had a good turnout this past Sunday at "Meet The Candidates" for individuals running for State and Local offices. Make sure you get out vote.

Friendly reminder from BFD!
