Please be aware that J.M. Smucker has recalled some canned dog food that may contain the drug pentobarbital. This brand includes Skippy, Kibbles n' Bits, and Ol' Roy dog foods.
With flu season in full force, many of us are surrounded by cold medicine to help get us through the day. But some of those medications may contain xylitol, a sugar substitute that can be life threatening to dogs if ingested. Make sure to keep those meds out of reach so you can get better and your pet can stay safe.
A little follow up from earlier this week upon further investigation. Toxicity of essential oils is known...and not known. There are varied opinions and amounts of research across the board about uses in animals. Quality of the oil, length of time used, route used, etc are all important factors to consider. I would not run in fear, but use caution, as I would advise with most things that we do not fully understand safety and toxicity.

Nearly 50% of the poisoning cases managed by Pet Poison Helpline involve human medications—both over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Here's a handout that lists the top 10 most common medications that are harmful to pets.
