After my dog had a hard time standing and walking and had blood in his stool we took him to this vet. Being new to the area we didn't have a vet yet. This Dr did not even examine my dog before jumping... to the conclusion his problems were due to eating pizza crust which I knew wasn't the case. The Dr kept saying he had diarrhea which he did not! I had to keep saying he doesn't and still the Dr thought what he wanted without knowing anything. A couple days later my dog couldn't breathe and had blood coming out of his mouth. We took him to emergency vet and the Dr at this vet had the nerve to call me on the way and say "I'm just curious how is the diarrhea" once again my dog did NOT have diarrhea. My poor boy had cancer and had to be put down. If this vet did their job and actually examined my dog he would've known it wasn't pizza crust. I would never recommend this place to anyone! See More

Elle (6 mo. old mini schnauzer) suffered a snake bite to her neck. There was instant swelling and physical tremors. The BAH staff instantly recognized her need for urgent care and called Dr. Yeomans r...ight away, who wasn't in his office. From that moment Elle was in the best care possible. While it was a scary time for us both, I didn't have any doubts about BAH not being able to make the right decisions. Eventually, Elle was able to come home at the end of the day and is recovering well. Thank you! See More

Amazing staff! Dr. Yeomans came in on a Saturday afternoon after my dog had an accident falling behind a retaining wall and had tar on the side of her. He clipped her fur so the tar is gone and he rea...ssured me that she was ok. I'm so blessed to have great Vets who really care about their clients and the animals. Dr. Reesman also called me after to check on Chloe. I highly recommend Brookwood Animal Hospital. We have been going here for 14 years. See More

With flu season in full force, many of us are surrounded by cold medicine to help get us through the day. But some of those medications may contain xylitol, a sugar substitute that can be life threatening to dogs if ingested. Make sure to keep those meds out of reach so you can get better and your pet can stay safe.

A little follow up from earlier this week upon further investigation. Toxicity of essential oils is known...and not known. There are varied opinions and amounts of research across the board about uses in animals. Quality of the oil, length of time used, route used, etc are all important factors to consider. I would not run in fear, but use caution, as I would advise with most things that we do not fully understand safety and toxicity.

Since we have been discussing toxicity in pets at the hospital lately in regards to essential oils, here's a Did You Know? Nearly 50% of the poisoning cases managed by Pet Poison Helpline involve human medications—both over-the-counter and prescription drugs. Here's a handout that lists the top 10 most common medications that are harmful to pets.

Due to the recent fire storm on Facebook and questions by clients and staff, I found this written by a veterinary toxicologist. It is worth a read if you have concerns about oils and cats.

As there is still ice on the roads in places, we will remain closed for the remainder of the day. We plan to reopen tomorrow for the afternoon, possibly the morning if the roads are safe. Please call the clinic before heading over to verify we are open. Thank you.

For the safety of our staff and clients, we are following the GA DOT advise and staying off the roads. We will try to open later today if the roads are safe but please call prior to coming to assure we are open.

There is a threat of snow for our area overnight. We plan to open for normal hours tomorrow. Please call first if the roads appear hazardous, as our parking lot can become a concern. Stay warm tonight!

We will be open for normal business hours Monday. Enjoy and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther Kind Day!

Warm moist days like today are an important reminder to keep heartworm, flea, and tick prevention current on you pet. Those pesky little mosquitos and other parasites may be on the prowl!
