Shout out to our Vice President Kahlil English for his work with Alan Holmes and Team Blyght on this important issue that impacts so many aspects of our quality of life in SW Atlanta.
Just wanted to remind you that there will be a community meeting about the new entrance to Emma Millican Park from Metropolitan Parkway tomorrow evening (Tuesday 6/21) at Kenny's home at 1488 Metropolitan Parkway at 7 pm. City Council Representative Joyce Sheperd will be there along with a City of Atlanta Parks designer to gather community input on what we want to see in the space. The property was purchased by the City after the old Grace Davis house burned down. The City is going to put a pedestrian/bicycle entrance to the park from Metropolitan Parkway and they want our thoughts on the projects.
Please come if you are interested!

Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the Cash Mob Last night a success and helped Capitol View Manor win the Neighborhood Participation Trophy!
This is the Vegan restaurant that will be offering free menu sampling at tonight's Cash Mob Kick off at Metro Lanes, tonight. Come out and support restaurants that offer fresh healthy options and safe, clean and welcoming environments!
This Friday, June 17, 7 – 9 pm, join your neighbors at the 2016 Cash Mob Kickoff at Metro Fun Center. Just say "I'm with the Cash Mob" at the front desk to get access to the entire facility for only $8. This includes 2 hours of family friendly fun -- bowling, skating, playing in the inflatables, etc. After getting your wristband at the front desk, come and sign in at the bowling alley. There's a full bar at the bowling alley.
The cash mob’s goal is simple: generate cash ...for local businesses that are dedicated to providing respectful, clean, and safe environments that offer healthy and fresh food options. The efforts focus on supporting businesses in our nine southwest Atlanta neighborhoods -- Adair Park, Ashview Heights, Capitol View, Capitol View Manor, Oakland City, Pittsburgh, Sylvan Hills, West End and Westview.
We'll have trophies awarded for the neighborhood with the largest turnout and for the highest bowling score. Last year, West End took the neighborhood trophy home. Also, a Vegan Restaurant will open soon in the space on the side of the building overlooking downtown. Their Chef will be providing free samples from their menu throughout the Cash Mob! Hope to see you there and please encourage your neighbors to come out!

Fulton County continues its efforts to reach out to constituents about providing the best possible service to our community. This means we are asking residents ...to participate in an online survey. The survey is part of a county-wide customer service initiative in conjunction with the Ken Blanchard Companies' Legendary Service Model.
The program seeks to work and train 1,500 front-line employees starting in May 2016. The data gathered in this survey will capture citizen's perceptions of Fulton County services prior to the start of training efforts.
The County is seeking information on County services from the constituents who use them. From the patrons that check out materials at Fulton County libraries to those who request assistance from one of the County's public safety agencies to taxpayers who deal with County staff to fund these activities, residents will evaluate how customer service should be provided by Fulton County. What do you think about our customer service? Click the link below to take the survey.
Take Fulton County Customer Service Survey The survey will be followed up with another in 2017 to measure the impact of customer service training.
For more information, visit Fulton County's website at www.fultoncountyga.gov or connect with Fulton County government on Twitter at @FultonInfo or Facebook at @fultoninfo.

Atlanta Teens Have a Chance for Their Own Hollywood Break
Hundreds of teens in eight cities -- including Atlanta -- will have a chance to take over cameras and lighting to sound ‘replace the pros,’ taking over camera to lighting to sound during a free weeklong experience designed to teach real-life career skills for media jobs.
Fresh Films is calling all teens (no experience required) to apply for its free summer program presented by Subway & Best Buy to work on sets to produ...ce new episodes of a kids’ TV show. To apply, teens simply complete a short form before June 15, 2016, at http://www.fresh-films.com/
More than 200 teens will be selected to join the Fresh Films program, each spending their week rotating through various filmmaking roles, from camera to effects to sound to editing.
“Not only do the teens learn about career options in the $650-billion media entertainment industry, they also gain leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills that will benefit them as they prepare for the future,” says Fresh Films, director Estlin Feigley.
Fresh Films doesn’t just expose kids to science, technology, engineering and math careers behind the scenes, but also through the content of many of its film projects: “Traveling Without Moving” (starring Steve Guttenberg and Harry Lennix) will debut in fall 2016 and is a fun, fictional sci-fi film based on real Quantum physics; Emmy-nominated kids’ TV show, “Moochie Kalala Detectives Club” (starring Tim Kazurinsky) inspires children’s curiosity about the world around them with help from real scientists.
The summer program is part of Fresh Films’ year-round initiatives for teens, which include school tours, teacher grants, filmmaking workshops and more.
Subway is giving away $300 science grants to 95 teachers, and more, as part of its partnership with Fresh Films.
