Early voting will start tomorrow morning at the Miller County Courthouse and on May 22 we will know who the citizens of Miller County hire to be your next collector. I want to take a minute and tell you THANK YOU for allowing me to be your collector for the last two terms. I can tell you that we currently have one one most modern and upgraded offices in the state. We created a position to collect delinquent taxes going back almost 30 years that has brought in almost a million dollars. I have made people mad at me and I had to do things I did not enjoy. But I was hired to do a job and I did it to the best of my ability. The money that comes through that office is yours, the citizens of Miller County and that is a huge responsibility. I am truly humbled and honored to have served you (and will through December 31, 2018). ❤️ Cathy
When I took office in 2015 I started checking into the security of the Collector's Office and the Miller County Courthouse. Because of the lack of security the Collectors Office, with the support of Judge Carlton Jones and with the approval of the Quorum Court purchased the RAVE Security program. This is the program that is used in our schools that uses the PANIC button for active shooters and optional buttons for medical emergencies, police and staff assist. This app is avai...lable and used by the Juvenile Detention Center, Juvenile Court, OEM building, Miller County Sheriff's Department, Prosecutor's Office and the Miller County Court House. I just received a phone call and an invitation to a statewide announcement that is going to be made this Thursday regarding the RAVE system, I will also be answering questions during their live broadcast at 1:30. I am proud that Miller County is one of the first courthouses to use this app.
Your tax statements are in the mail. This year you will notice a lot of changes to your statements, I wanted to answer all the questions that I am asked every day in the office.
The first thing that you will notice is a QR cube. If you want to pay online you can scan this cube with your smart phone and it will take you directly to the online payment website.
The last page of your statement will have the answers to most of the questions we are asked daily with the phone number to call if needed. Hopefully this information can save you some time and money.
Included with this year’s statement is a letter from Texarkana’s City Manager Kenny Haskins regarding the voluntary tax for the City of Texarkana and a brochure about property fraud from the Circuit Clerk’s office. If you have any questions please call the office.
Today I was approached about a rumor that is circulating that I want to clear up. The Collectors office CANNOT take away your mineral rights. Mineral rights are... considered real estate and if the taxes become two years delinquent it is certified to the State Land Commissioner. The only difference is minerals can only be redeemed by the original owner or the land owner. They are not auctioned off like real estate. Hope this helpful.

Update: Look what came in the mail today!
Great article in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette today. It's amazing what can happen when people work together. They owe Miller County $8,518. and are suppose to have a check in the mail.
Collectors working together!
An out-of-state company, Pitney Bowes, owes close to $43,000 in back taxes to counties all over the state. Pulaski County Treasurer Debra Buckner has been polli...ng fellow tax collectors around the state and the results of her poll are in: more than two dozen counties are owed back taxes by the same Florida company.
It's that time of year! Be sure and call to avoid the 10% penalty.
Just a friendly reminder that you must assess your personal property every year between January 1st and May 31st. If it's your 1st time to assess you will need to come in to the assessor office. Otherwise, you can call them at 870-774-1502.
Good news for our Vets!❤️
Since Jan. 1, veterans who live in the Natural State no longer have to pay income tax on their military retirement benefits. State Rep. Nelda Speaks, who repres...ents Baxter County, said, "They've been looking forward to that, and it's well deserved." http://bit.ly/2CRxHwK
What a year! During the 2016 budget process I approached the Miller County Quorum Court about creating a position to collect delinquent taxes. The request was approved and a Delinquent Tax Investigator was hired with an annual salary of $24,688.97.
The final numbers were turned in today and I am excited to say that since its beginning, this position has brought in $788,510.92 of YOUR money! December 2017 has been the best month to date with $156,892.13 with taxes going back ...to 2008! This amount is above the amount of delinquent taxes that is brought in by the other deputy collectors.
