This was SO awesome. A fantastic experience for the whole family. Bring a lunch and stay a while to play on the playground or explore the park and trail too! We will definitely be going back again soon!

When my son's were little, they loved Thomas the Tank Engine. When we found CALS, we all instantly fell in love. Fun, educational for all ages and a great group of people. A must see in Maryland.

Really cool!

To those of you looking forward to riding the rails with us tomorrow, we are sorry to deliver this news. However, after an evaluation of the track site (it’s covered with leaves and branches) and the forecast, the board of directors thought it would be best to not try to hold our November public run day.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you understand that safety of our passengers and equipment always comes first.

With that said, have a great, safe Veterans Day weekend and mark down April 8th 2018 on your calendar. That is when we aim to run again!

He wouldn't want this...but here it is...

At Leakin Park...

Train enthusiasts delight in seeing the railroad legacy live on through detailed models, parents live for the moment when the eyes of their little one's open wide to as the colorful locomotive steams into the station and young boys and girls jump up and down simply at the opportunity to climb on board.

It is those sights that fuel our club members to put in the long hours to run the railroad at Leakin Park. However, as with any team, you need a strong leader. Sadly, for the first time in more than 30 years...we are without one of ours.

Immediate past-President Jim Carpenter died early this week at the age of 75.

His white mustache and always off-center engineers cap were a constant presence at the track site, as well as in many of our member's lives. He was our number 1 ambassador, embracing new club members as they started in the hobby and encouraged longtime members to keep at it. He balanced the books, put out the fires (even the ones that were supposed to be lit in the fire box at times...) and literally kept trains on the track. Most importantly he loved railroading and loved seeing the joy it brought to both young and old.

He will forever be apart of our story and the story of Baltimore.

He wouldn't want this...but here it is...
Tonight, just as a train does when it stops at the station, we sound one loud BLAST of the whistle for Jimmy Carpenter. Your trip on this track is over...may you rest in peace.

Morning rail fans.

We are currently still planning to run today as long as the rain isn't too steady.

The President Adams is sitting at Buck-Slayton station as we speak with a full head of steam.

Been receiving a lot of questions about the status of tomorrows run day.

At this point we still plan to give rides 11am-3:30pm tomorrow. We will still run in intermittent light rain showers. However a steady rain could cancel our October run day all together. We will post updates here when we have them.

All Aboard!

It can warm riding behind a steam locomotive. So make sure you bring your water tomorrow (gosh knows we never forget it) from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and enjoy a train ride on us!

It's gonna be a HOT one! Lucky for us Leakin Park trees provide some shade and our trains provide a gentle breeze as we roll down the track.

We run 11am-3:30pm today.
Please remember to stay hydrated when you come out to see us!

Views from a double header.

These two Atlantic type (4-4-2 wheel arrangement) steamers pulled our trains at both our Mothers Day and Herb Festival runs in May.

Missed those? Not to worry! We run again Sunday 11am-3:30pm

We hear so many people say "you are a Mothers Day tradition for us."

It is a tradition we plan on continuing Sunday 11am-3:30pm.
