We love our museum pass! My kiddos love playing at the CDM. We also love the early education and homeschool classes. The pass also works at so many other museums around the country!

My family moved here almost three years ago, and I cannot believe it took me this long to visit the CDM. It was so much more than I could ever have imagined. We bought a membership on the spot. My d...aughter (5) spent most of her time on the first floor (water play, heartbeat drum, & so much more). It was two hours before I could talk her into seeing the other floors. When I finally got her to the third floor (music/art focused), I couldn't tear her away from the walking piano or the painting area. We never made it to the second floor, so we can't wait to return to see what wonders await there. Everything was spotless and organized (including the restrooms), which is a testament to a staff that is truly phenomenal. Everyone on the staff we encountered was pleasant and helpful, and a shout out/thank you to James for all your kindnesses.

Tips for parents: If you have a child who will want to play in the Hydro Works (water area) be sure to bring a change of clothes. They provide waterproof smocks and a hand drier, but, if your child is as "adventurous" as mine, you will be glad to have the spare dry ones to swap out and send them on their way. They have free lockers near the lobby area to use, so you can stow them there until they're needed. Also, feel free to bring in your own beverages, as long as they are in closable containers Starbucks coffee (and similar) cups are fine as well.

We took a 2, 3 and 4 year old and they all LOVED it! 3 levels of engaging, interactive, exploration fun. Staff were visible, helpful, plentiful, but not intrusive. I saw them reorganizing and cleaning... in an exhibits low times, so I felt safe letting the kids touch everything. There was something for every interest, and the admission price was fantastic. Also, it's located right by the train station (a block away) so you could add to the experience by taking the train. See More

I've taken my children to a number of Children's Musuem (i.e., Chicago, Nashville, Atlanta, etc). Some were good and some not so good. I can say this one easily fell in the 'good' category. I was plea...santly surprised. There ample things for the kids to do. I couldn't have been happier with our experience. See More

This is such a gem of a place! There are activities for kids for all ages. My 2 year old son's favorite things were the grocery store, the tractor and farm section, the wind filled tubes that shot sca...rves out, and the water painting room.
The museum is also is a great location. Walking distance to several restaurants, and ice cream!

We have been to the Children's Discovery Museum before and all three of our kids really enjoyed it and had a great time! I was looking forward to meeting a friend and her kids there today and taking three year old for the day today. I checked your facebook page last night and it said it was closed but would be open again this morning. We drove an hour to get there from Decatur, walked a block down from the parking garage, only to find a locked door and a sign on the door that the CDM was closed for annual shutdown August 24- Sept. 7! PLEASE in the future make this change on your fb page so it doesn't tell people that the museum will be open when it is not! We went to the zoo instead on a very hot day! We will reschedule and come to CDM again, but the inconvenience was a big disappointment today. See More

Great fun for the kiddos aged 5 to 8 years. Very interactive but like all museums some of the play with exhibits have show wear and tear and needed fixing. But we spent 5 hrs there. Most of the time on the kids dress up play along theater, water exhibit, and chalking the Windows. See More

Did you know that time crystals are now considered a new State of Matter? Time crystals are a bizarre state of matter with an atomic structure that repeats not just in space, but in time, allowing them to maintain constant oscillation, back and forth motion, without energy. It is amazing to see the impossible become possible! To view Science Alert’s compiled list of 20+ discoveries click below.
