Are you in Hinsdale or Western Springs and concerned about Tri-State widening? Last night, we had another meeting with the Tollway to discuss concerns. The Tollway has not yet clearly explained why they need to expand to six lanes, instead of five, in each direction in residential neighborhoods in Hinsdale and Western Springs (as opposed to industrial/commercial areas in many other areas along the Tri-State). I look forward to the Tollway giving Hinsdale and Western Springs the opportunity to discuss whether this much expansion is really necessary and wise.

State Sen. Chris Nybo says Illinois Tollway officials should respond to concerns of residents before moving forward with widening plan for Interstate 294.

Here’s an update on what’s happening in the race to replace my friend Rep. Mike Fortner

Tonia Khouri - Way Too Far
Tax Cheat Tonia Khouri

Criticizing fundraising for Breast Cancer, marginalizing #MeToo and sexual assault victims, creating fake newspapers to spread lies... way over the line. Tonia Khouri, way too far, even for Illinois. #SayNOtoToniaKhouri

As voting begins, I strongly recommend James Mendrick for DuPage County Sheriff. His exceptional record in Law Enforcement will help ensure that our communities stay safe with the best use of manpower and technology, while maintaining fiscal responsibility to taxpayers. Strongly endorsed and praised by the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald, Jim will help protect our families and children, one of the most important responsibilities for our public officials.

I've seen a lot of campaign mail over the years but this piece supporting Tonia Khouri is the most shameful piece I've ever seen. If Team Khouri thinks that mocking the fight against breast cancer and sexual harassment helps their efforts, then it's clear where common sense voters need to be in this race #NotWithToniaKhouri #VoteZito

Thank you to the Suburban Life for covering our ongoing efforts to ban bump stock in Illinois through SB 2247 and 2317. This is not the only gun control measure I support, but it is one the legislature should pass ASAP. There is no reason these deadly devices should remain legal in Illinois or anywhere in our country #NeverAgain

ELMHURST – In the wake of high-profile gun violence, state Sen. Chris Nybo, R-Elmhurst, is urging the Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee to call a public hearing as soon as possible for legislation banning bump stocks.

It's good to hear that the federal government will attempt to ban bump stocks. But until they do, we will continue our efforts to ban them here in Illinois through Senate Bill 2247 or 2317. I am a Chief Co-Sponsor of both bills.

Bulletin Board: A Post From the Community | SPRINGFIELD - In wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history last October and following yesterday's tragic death of a Chicago Police Commander at the hands of gun violence, State Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) has filed legislation to address growing...

Had a great time meeting neighbors and putting up signs for Greg Hart and Jim Durkin this afternoon in Lemont! Lots of support down there! If you need a sign, send me a comment or a message!

Following too many tragedies, including mass shootings in Las Vegas and Florida, I filed legislation to ban bump stocks in Illinois—a dangerous device used by the Las Vegas shooter to target more victims. Illinois should lead by example on this public safety issue, and I am working aggressively to have this bill heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee…/chi-ugc-article-nybo-files-…

From the Sun Times editors on possibly illegal practices by the Illinois Policy Institute: “But the arrangements smell, and we urge state Sen. Chris Nybo, a Republican, to follow through on his threat to push for investigations by the FBI and the IRS.” After you read the editorial, what do you think?

As a Republican legislator who has tried to help immigrants, to protect LGBT rights, and to improve public schools everywhere, I am offended by this ad. It does NOT reflect the Republican Party to which I belong. My friend Jeanne Ives should immediately take it off the air.

Jeanne Ives' anti-Bruce Rauner ad ripped as "full of misinformation, hate and bigotry."

It has been an honor to serve with my good friend State Representative Patti Bellock for the last six years. As a new House member, I sat right in front of Patti, and she was generous with her time and advice as I grew into my new position. And there could not have been any better role model for what makes a good legislator than Patti Bellock. She was our very first female House Deputy Leader, she has been a strong advocate on crucial healthcare and disability issues for Illinois families, she takes the lead on complex budgetary legislation, and she ALWAYS makes herself available for anyone who needs her time. Patti, thank you for your service. We will all miss you dearly!

State Rep. Patti Bellock, a Hinsdale Republican, said she will not seek re-election when her term ends in January 2019.

Prayers for John McCain and his family. A true American hero, and an inspiration for anyone with the privilege of serving the public. [Also, I've just deleted and blocked two commenters. Feel free to have political debates, but I will not allow my Facebook page to be used to attack anyone just diagnosed with cancer]

Yesterday was a special day. Joined by me, Rep. Peter Breen, Rep. Deb Conroy, and Sen. Tom. Cullerton, Governor Bruce Rauner signed "Charlie's Law," which will require health insurers to cover life-saving treatments for children who suffer from PANDAS/PANS. I'm so proud and overjoyed to cosponsor legislation that will truly save the lives of children all across Illinois, including the son of my good friend Scott Brejcha.

Please pray for everyone at the Illinois Capitol today as we deal with what may have been an attempted terrorist attack. Authorities are still responding and investigating, and I encourage all leaders of our State to help restore calmness and civility in our political discourse.

I am pleased I was able to help a local group with legislation that will benefit our environment.

It will be easier to host cooking oil recycling events in Illinois, thanks to Senator Chris Nybo! SB1420 will greatly assist the programs run in DuPage County by SCARCE! Congrats!

Met with Suburban Life editors yesterday to discuss local efforts on which I'm working - protecting Hinsdale/Western Springs residents from overly aggressive Tri-State expansion, helping Lombard's National University of Health Sciences get state support for one of its programs, and ongoing efforts to consolidate the DuPage County Election Commission.
