The City of Skiatook currently has Bacco Tree Service working in areas of our community trimming trees near the power lines.
This tree trimming program is vital to our electric system as
it helps us avoid downed lines during inclement weather and also helps to keep our system as reliable as possible under normal circumstances.

Please be courteous to the contractor as they are working to help our community. If you should have any questions or complaints regarding this contractor or the service they are providing, please contact the Electric Superintendent by emailing trey@cityofskiatook.com.

Update: The City of Skiatook has been in contact with our provider and we expect to be back up and running by noon today.
The City of Skiatook website is currently down. We are working to correct the issues and get it back up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This fiscal year Public Works budgeted in two new mowers. It was decided a month ago that instead of purchasing two new mowers Public Works would purchase one mower and one snow plow. In preparation for last night's snow storm they mounted the snow plow Friday to use last night and today, THANK YOU to Skiatook Public Works and our Street Department for making sure our roads are as clear as possible! Your hard work is very much appreciated!!!

On February 13, 2018 the citizens will be going to the polls to vote on various items. The City of Skiatook has placed a half-cent sales tax on the ballot to fund projects at the sports park. There has been a lot of talk surrounding this topic and the City of Skiatook would like to provide some information to help educate the voters before they go to the polls.

 While the overall tax in Osage County is higher ... than some surrounding communities, Skiatook is not the blame for this as the city currently only accesses 3.5 percent while other communities around us have it at 4 percent.
 The tax through the ordinance will sunset in 5 years and in order for the ½ cent to continue the city council would have to call for another election and the voters would have to pass the tax.
 The tax will generate an estimated $560,000 per year, based on current projections and in all would present approximately 2.8 million to the city to expend for sport park/facility improvements.
 Based on the estimated cost of expenditures voiced by the clubs/city staff the city would need approximately 2 to 2.8 million to complete both the sports park and gym improvements.
 The city does not plan to borrow the money but to make the improvements by cash flowing the projects over the five year period therefore no interest cost would be incurred.
 While we cannot determine the economic impact the clubs bring to the city we know it does because of the routine feedback we receive from businesses.
 The clubs do generate money throughout the year but do put a lot of the money back into the park and gym through improvements and maintenance. In some cases the city will partner with the clubs on certain projects for funding purposes.
 If the tax passes, the average voter would expect to pay anywhere from $8-12 per month (depending on spending habits) more than they do now.
 Without the tax, the city currently has about $100K per year to make improvements which without additional funding will take 15 to 20 years to complete the suggested projects, minus any growth.
We encourage all citizens to exercise your right and vote on all matters on the ballot February 13, 2018!

City of Skiatook

The City of Skiatook was informed on November 1st, by our wholesale electric provider, GRDA, that the city will experience a scheduled electrical outage on Sund...ay, November 12th, starting at 1:00AM. The reason for the outage is to transfer the Skiatook substation on Oak Street to the new distribution line that you may have seen under construction in recent months crossing US75 around 106th Street North. The outage is expected to last up to 6 hours, but will hopefully be less. The city staff is going to great lengths to prepare for the outage. Any customers of the City of Skiatook utility department may be affected by this, but the hope is that the event will cause minimal disruption because of the time and day of week. While this might be an inconvenience, this outage is necessary to protect the safety of the electrical workers when transferring to the new line and ultimately will greatly improve distribution and reliability to the city power grid. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
