Ian Giles getting chilly doing the Ice Bucket Challenge at the CCCA party last night. Roger Evans was the 'Bucket Man' who even paid for the privilege of dumping all that iced water on me!! So now, by way of getting my own back, a little story about RLE, one of the best co-drivers ever to come out of the UK:- The same Roger Evans spent a night detained in a Garda ( Police ) station in Cork in the 70's after a very boozy apres Cork 20 celebration. He and Gareth Jones (RIP) were racing each other and oubraked each other at the entrance to Cork Ferryport. Jones merely hit a concrete pillar. RLE hit , and moved, a portacabin, c/w occupant. RLE did what we all would do- selected 1st gear, rang down for main engines and drove on to the ferry, where he retired to the bar.He was regaling the throng with the story when the long arm of PC PLOD arrived, locked him up , but unfortunately, failed to throw away the key ! RLE did not realise there was a civilian in the portacabin who grassed him up to the Law. They locked up Roger Griffiths who was sat in the passenger seat as well......and Jeff Churchill was at the bar on the ferry buying the round and on hearing the news remarked to the barman 'make that eighteen pints, not twenty'.......

Retro Malaga- Classic Car show & Autojumble. Well worth a visit

We have received this distress call from a fellow classic car enthusiast. Can anyone in that area help?
Hello, I am attending my sister-in-laws wedding tomorrow and the 1958 VW Beatle they had booked has broken down - I was wondering if you or any of your members in the Marbella/Sotogrande area are able to help us in this emergency.
My Father-in-law, my brother and my own father are all members of classic car clubs in the UK so if we are ever able to repay the favour it would... be our pleasure
Kind regards,

Roy Graveling: It is with great sadness that I have to tell you of the death yesterday of staunch CCCA supporter, Roy Graveling. He and his wife Sheila have been popular and loyal supporters of the Club since its inception and he will be sorely missed. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to his wife Sheila and their family. The funeral will take place on Monday, June 12th at 11.00AM at Benalmadena Crem. I would like to see as many CCCA members there to support Sheila as possible.

The Euro Weekly News. May 05th to May 11th.

Greetings Everyone,

You will probably remember that I have talked of The Tour de Sands in previous emails, at Clubnights and in the page we have in the Euro Weekly News.

CCCA member, Sandra (Sands) Watson, lost her fight with the vile Cancer disease last year. She was a fabulous person, friend, wife and Mum and also a very successful dentist. She and Jerry even managed to organise Runs for the CCCA whilst still living in the UK! Their enthusiasm for all things, especially ...this Club, never waned. Both Jerry and Sandra really enjoyed this Club and made lots of friends from it. Sandra also loved cycling and, only a few weeks before the end, managed a lengthy cycle tour in New Zealand. A truly lovely and amazing lady.

To honour her life, and to raise a lot of money for two important charities, husband Jerry Watson has been planning a mammoth cycle ride from Easton-on-the Hill, near Stamford, to their second home in Elviria, Spain. Hence the 'E2E' part of it all. This huge ride covers 1600 miles (2400Kms) through the UK, France and Spain and is taking 6 full weeks to achieve. It started from Easton-on-the-Hill on April 21st and arrives on the Costa del Sol on Thursday June 01st.

Two CCCA members, Jerry and Mac McCarthy are doing the whole trip and anyone who wants to join in for any part (or parts) of the trip is welcome. In fact, 57 cyclists joined in for the UK section alone! I am going to the north of Spain towards the end of the month to join some of the route myself (!!)

You can see the route and the schedule on the website and it really is worth having a look at it to see what has, and is being, achieved.

To celebrate the end of this incredible odyssey, we are arranging a party at Avanto Beach Club, near La Cala, on Saturday June 01st. We'll have at least 40 people coming especially from the UK, we'll have great food, plenty to drink and some very good live music. The ticket is only €50 and 25% of this will go to the charities. We'll also be auctioning off some good local and UK prizes for those that might like them.

There is an invitation attached and it would be helpful if you could let me know if you'll attend this incredibly special and worthwhile event. Bring any friends and guests just let me know the numbers etc.

I do hope to see the entire Classic Car Club of Andalucia there.

Our friends at the Porsche Owners Club have a charity run going on that same day in aid of Cudeca, another very worthwhile charity, and we wish them well with that but, I hope, all CCCA members will be at Avanto to greet our own amazing cyclists and share this incredible achievment.

If you would like the wizzy shirts deigned for the event, let me know that too.

All the very best,
