From the Marin IJ:
Ritual drum circles date back thousands of years to ancient civilizations that used drums to communicate between villages, to celebrate important events like harvests and solstices and to create unity among soldiers.
In recent times, drum circles are more about social connection and spiritual exploration. If you have ever wanted to try it, now is your chance. Novato-based Community Acupuncture of Marin is offering a three-week class for beginners to “learn,... deepen and expand rhythms that anyone can learn.”
The course runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 24, March 3 and 10 at a cost of $65. It’s led by Sahar Eric Pinkham, who writes on their website, “I find it delightfully refreshing the ease with which one who has never played a drum can jump right in. I see glee on the faces of participants as they realize how much fun they are having.”
Online registration is at the Community Acupuncture of Marin website.
