This state election in Lyons has been one of the hardest I have been involved in on many fronts. We gave it our best shot with over 17,000 door knocks, 7,000 calls and travelling over 24,000km in the last 7 months.

I was excluded late this afternoon and wish my work colleague Janet Lambert all the best with the remaining count.
To all the people who were involved in this huge campaign thank you, but I do want to name a few special people.

...

Oliver Plunkett my Campaign Manager was unbelievable. Oliver lived here for 4 months and his work ethic is amazing. I would have you back anytime mate - Danielle and I appreciate your efforts during the campaign.

To Brian Mitchell, Sharon Carnes and the other Mitchell team members, thanks for covering me during my time off. Your support and advice was invaluable.

The core campaign team, Kaz, Lara, Jacob, John, Tim, Carol and Robbie - you guys rock . Your support during this tough campaign will never be forgotten.

Volunteers Damien, Mav, Shirley, Karen I, Mark and Ange, Rod, Lara, Mick, Woody, Steve, Sondra, Casey, Susie, Wendy, Team McAllister and all the AMWU and HACSU freaks, a huge thank you. Without you we had nothing, you were the real deal.

To the Labor House Team and Rebecca White for all your support, a big thumbs up. We must keep the Government honest and get ready for 2022 - the most vulnerable in our community will need us even more by then.

Thanks to everyone who had one of my signs up, signed a petition, donated or just support me.

Finally to my family and friends for putting up with this madness, Danielle for allowing me the time and believing in me, Sarah my daughter who still can't understand why I do it, and my brothers and sisters who were there when I needed them.

I love living in Lyons and as I said during the campaign, live it, work it, love it.

All the best
Darren
