Driving Route Nine -- the Bayshore Byway -- For a Delaware Humanities Forum program at the New Castle Public Library "Life in the Past Lane: Country Roads" I discussing a few of the State's scenic byways and lesser-traveled roads. Several library patrons asked about some of the older images along Route Nine and roads outside Odessa, and I promised to share them.

Here's a link to Del DOTS Bayshore Byway Page, which has more information.

Whether you're out on a trail or in your own garden, the Spotted Lantern Fly (aka Hitchhiker Bug) could be there too. Help the Delaware Department of Agriculture track this invasive pest to prevent potential damage to a wide range of plants and crops. We need to stop it from catching rides through our state!

Additional information and the email to report sightings along with photos:

Jack A. Markell Trail Photo Update! Great to see such progress being made on the pedestrian trail connecting the Wilmington Riverfront to New Castle. Not only does it open a new world for local recreational users and commuters, it extends the East Coast Greenway Alliance's trail through Delaware, supporting travel down the East Coast. Set for completion mid-2018, we can't wait for everyone to be able to use it!!!
