Early college commitments are exciting, but those are usually for NCAA Division 1 powerhouse programs and are not the only soccer scholarships available.

Official Announcement:

Starting June 1st 2017, Dallas Texans 01B East will be coming under the East Texas Premier Soccer Club's umbrella as East Texas Premier 00/01 Boys.

This team has been playing together for several years under the direction of Coach Andy Sumrow. Coach Andy and his team gained state and regional attention over the last several year's by competing in the Classic League, winning the North Texas Presidents Cup, and making it to the finals of the Region III U...SYSA Presidents Cup.

"I want to thank Coach Andy for trusting the ETP organization with the group of boys he has coached for many years. After hearing the eagerness from Coach Andy in regards to what he believes the boys need in this pivotal time of their youth soccer career; ETP staff and I accepted the challenge. A couple of key things the boys will benefit from by joining ETP is Collegiate Style Training and College Exposure. We do realize it's going to be a long summer with the boys learning the unorthodox style of ETP possession system of play, but we're looking forward to it. Trust the process and have a purpose." per Director of Player Development/Coach, Claude Fortson

Coach Andy Sumrow will also be transitioning over as staff coach and trainer.

This team will be competing in tournaments across the Region III area in addition to selected College Showcases.

There will be some occasions where some players will be invited to play on the already established East Texas Premier 99/00 Senior Showcase team.

Open Training Sessions begin June 1st.
Location: Longview High School Grass Soccer Field
Time: 6:15 pm

It comes with great pleasure to announce that Cade Melvin will be attending Centenary College next Fall. Cade officially signed last week to continue his soccer career. Cade is joining a program that has several former ETX Premier-SC players currently on its roster. Cade garnered many accolades on the pitch while playing for his high school, Capt Shreve.

"Centenary is getting a very hard worker. Cade is a relentless GK, that brings two key attributes between the pipes, which is anticipation and good communication. Cade will be the first GK from the program to play at the next level" ...per Coach Claude Fortson

It comes with great pleasure to announce that Ronaldo Patino will be taking his talents, on the pitch and in the class room to St. Mary’s University beginning this Fall. Ronaldo will be playing for 3rd year head coach Matt Barnes and the Rattlers soccer program. St. Mary’s is a NCAA Division II program, located in San Antonio, Texas and competes in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the Heartland Conference. Ronaldo was heavily recruited by many programs across ...the country and from all divisions. His final decision came down to two schools, University of Charleston (a perennial powerhouse program located in West Virginia) and St. Mary’s University.

Coach Barnes identified Ronaldo as one of top prospects after meeting Coach Claude and watching Ronaldo play just one game at The Sport Source Showcase back in December. Since then Ronaldo has visited the campus twice and worked out with some of the returning players.

“I have no doubt at all Ronaldo will be a success at the next level. His work ethic in unbeatable on and off the pitch. We’re talking about a young man that has been awarded some of top accolades across the state as a soccer player, but a top notch student in the class room. Any young man that score in the 30’s on his ACT, while becoming ETX Premier-SC top goal scorer of all time and leaving Longview High School as their 2nd goal scorer of all time, I know he’ll be OK at the next level. Ronaldo wore the ETX Premier-SC shield longer than anyone wore it because he started with ETX Premier-SC as 8th grader and played two years up with the 96/97 Boys at the time. Too say the least, he will be missed” …per Coach Claude Fortson

All:

It comes with great pleasure this evening to announce that ETP's own Angel Abrego will be taking his talents to Lees-McRae College in Bonner Elk, NC. Lees-McRae is a NCAA Division 2 program that competes in the Carolina's Conference Association (CCA). Angel will be suiting up for 3rd year coach Rich Wall.

Angel is a student athlete at Byrd HS over in the Shreveport/Bossier City area, where he garnered many superlative accolades while on the pitch.

...

"I had the pleasure of coaching Angel this past season and I'm confident he'll be a future success story for the East Premier Soccer program . Angel is very strong on the ball as a striker and sees the pitch very well as a CAM. It'll be interesting to see where LMC utilizes his talents" Coach Claude Fortson

A blog piece which makes a case for limited touches during kids training sessions to be counter productive and non realistic to the game itself.
