Phil is a great mechanic. He will never charge you for something that does not need to be fixed. He does the job well. I had a problem with my Passat. I took it to the VW dealership at least 3 times o...ver 1.5 years . They could not find out what was wrong. I took it to Phil. The light was off so it was hard to diagnose the problem. He tried a simple option and asked me to return if it didn't improve instead of making a big repair. It was better but not 100%. I went back we tried the second more labour intensive option, now and it works great!! I appreciate that he gave me the option. I have recommended him to my friends and do so with full confidence that they will get got honest service and not be disappointed. Good luck Phil!!! See More

Top 10 Stolen Vehicles in 2017

Here's an excerpt from IBC (Insurance Bureau of Canada) about the top 10 stolen vehicles in Canada.

"Vehicle theft costs Canadians close to $1 billion including costs for insurance to fix or replace stolen cars, police, the court system and correctional services."

...

Generally thieves steal cars for four reasons: sale abroad, re-sale or dismantled and sold for parts, to get somewhere (joyriding) or to commit another crime. It seems where there’s a will, there’s a way…unfortunately.

To learn about 2017's top 10 most stolen vehicles in the Alberta region, or to view other locations, click visit:

Tips for Safety

- Purchase used vehicles only from reputable dealers and run a vehicle history check. If buying privately, have it inspected by a trusted mechanic.
- Only deal with reputable repair shops to avoid having stolen parts put onto your vehicle during repairs.
- Never leave your vehicle running unattended – 20% of all stolen vehicles have keys in them.
- Park your vehicle in well-lit areas.
- Always roll up your car window, lock the doors and pocket your keys.
- Never leave valuables or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk.
- Park your vehicle in the garage at night.
- Use a steering wheel lock or ‘Club’ to deter thieves.

Keeping these tips in mind at all times will keep your vehicle safe. Be smart. It’s worth it!

Time for preventative maintenance?

When we think of fluid changes in our vehicles we usually think of oil changes. Keep in mind that motor oil isn't the only fluid that needs to be changed on a regular basis. All lubricants in your vehicle need to be changed regularly. In fact, it's wise to change transmission oil, coolant and even power steering and brake fluid to keep your vehicle running smoothly and to ensure reliable performance.

Your owner's manual will tell you the spe...cific mileage suggestions for your vehicle, but our service shop can help you with that too! To arrange an appointment to have your fluids and lubricants changed, give us a shout today at 403-273-6033.

Protect Your Vehicle During the Winter Months

Trying to keep your vehicle clean in the winter months can be next to impossible.

But, it's not a bad idea to wash it from time to time to get rid of salt residue and other chemicals that cling to your car when put on the streets to help clear the ice and snow for safer driving.

...

In fact, removing the gritty residue is super important as salt is incredibly corrosive to metal and can cause unprotected parts like the underside of your vehicle to rust, as well as, it can really wreak havoc on your vehicle's paint job.

There are many automatic and self-service car washes in your area. Just make sure the car wash you frequent uses fresh water and not recycled water so that you aren't soaking your car in salt water.

At the end of the day, frequency comes down to personal preference. But if you want to preserve your vehicle over the long haul, washing regularly will help keep your vehicle's exterior in good condition, not to mention that, cleaning the windows makes for a much safer view when driving!

Time to have that talk about #wintertires again!

Winter temperatures have certainly been milder than normal here in Calgary. Gorgeous sunny days in fact, such a nice, unexpected treat! That said, it's still that time of year to have a chat about winter tires.

Winter and the grip your tires have in tough conditions is tentative at best! Did you know that 30% wear on a tire will result in a loss of 70% of its grip? It's true. Tires do actually wear out and tougher driving condi...tions mean even more wear and tear on your tires which can compromise the handling and safety of your vehicle.

In cold, wet, snowy, and often icy conditions tires are required to work hard and are definitely one of the critical ways to ensure yours and your family's safety.

Moral of the story - for optimum traction in wet or snowy conditions, replace your tires before they reach the minimum tread depth.

To have your tires checked before winter conditions are upon us, call 403-273-6033. Your life depends on them.

Safe & happy motoring!
