Elements Wilderness Program is looking for a Family Visit Coordinator to facilitate parent visits in the field. This is a chance to provide brief therapy with families. If you are looking for supervision to obtain your clinical license, this is great way to gain hours. The position is available in mid-April. The position hours are living in Huntington, UT Tuesday through Thursday. The job is set up to be working every week with families; however,... when there are no family visits, being in the field with students would be part of the job duty.
Duties and Expectations of Family Visit Coordinator:
• Balance public relations with therapeutic relations when working with families
• Set up phone calls with parents to discuss preparation and family dynamics before parent visit/Prepare student through paperwork
• Tuesday afternoon packing and configuring logistics with staff, field department, therapists, and logistics team
• Prepare families at the office on Wednesday morning (answering questions, outfitting gear, etc)
• Facilitate groups (introduction, feedback, goodbye, focus, closing, etc)
• Mediate situations and conversations with family members/ Guide the communication process with families
• Facilitate family initiatives
• Own a busting set; be able to teach and perform fire-making
• Train and schedule field staff to work with families/Aid staff development in the field through feedback and role-modeling
• Have a valid license/Drive a suburban with passengers
• Clean gear after the visits
• Keep gear up to date and in stock
• Write a brief narrative on how the visit went and download pictures of the visit
• Follow-up with families and therapist after parent visit via email
• Provide own camping gear
• Parent programming development
It is not required to possess a Wilderness First Responder certification in order to apply. However, if you are not currently WFR certified, we will need to schedule a time for you to obtain one in the immediate future. Compensations will be discussed and based on experience. Other duties may include assisting another therapist on a Family Focus, a 3-day therapeutic family intensive expedition, and working in the field when parent visits are absent.
