So thrilled to be the illustrator of this awesome limited edition chap book by Daniel Braum from Dim Shores!!!
Hi everyone. Sorry for the late notice but I want to let you know that the next release, 'Yeti. Tiger. Dragon.' by Daniel Braum with art from Emily Mintz and an... introduction from Rudi Dornemann, will begin pre-orders TOMORROW for those of you who bought 'Grass.' General pre-order for everyone else opens on Tuesday September 27.
This is a really cool little book with stories involving cryptozoology, a lifelong interest of mine. There are three stories in here: "The Yeti's Hand," "Hunting the Tasmanian Tiger," and "The Water Dragon."
"The Yeti's Hand" was previously printed as a limited chapbook in 2004, and "Hunting the Tasmanian Tiger" appeared in print magazine Dark Recesses in 2008. This will be the first appearance of "The Water Dragon," whose egg can be seen on the cover. Illustrator Emily Mintz did that cover and three interior pieces, one for each story. Emily is a freelance animal drawing/sculpting artist and instructor at the American Museum of Natural History and an exhibit artist and fabricator for the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo, and her work for this project would not look out of place in a natural studies textbook. Killer.
'Yeti. Tiger. Dragon.' will launch with a fantastic event at Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, NY on Wednesday October 5: "Cryptozoology: Fact and Fiction: An Evening of Cryptozoology with Strange Tales Author Daniel Braum."
As a bonus, Daniel will be signing every copy. I'm adding the listing to the web store and Goodreads tonight. If you bought 'Grass' and you pre-order, please tell me your book number if you know it. Orders will ship around the middle of October!

Over the years I have been exploring the idea of portraiture, particularly self portraiture, experimenting with style and content. What is it really to see some...one? how should we be looking at ourselves? One major theme has been the conflict between what makes a figure "naked" OR what makes a figure "nude". Is it how the artist sees the model, or how the viewer sees work? or any of the other factors that go into making paint read as flesh and soul?
