We are pleased to announce the creation of the felt :: feutre canada Canadian Felt Symposium Bursary for 2018.

If you are interested in applying for the bursary, please submit the form on our website, including images of work, by February 16th, 2018.
This bursary is available to felt :: feutre canada members who wish to improve their skills, artistically or technically, and to expand their creative practice. All members are welcome to apply, including volunteers/committee members. Volunteers and committee members will not be eligible to act as jurors for the bursary nor have access to any information in regard to the jurying process.
The bursary covers the cost of the following:
Five days of workshop fees
Six nights accommodation –at the economy dorm level: One single-sized bed, the bedroom area shared with one other guest and the adjoining bathroom with two other guests, wireless internet services, guest pass to Fundy YMCA. All meals included beginning with dinner on September 30th through breakfast on October 6th.
The bursary does not cover the cost of materials or travel to the event.
There is one bursary available for the 2018 Canadian Felt Symposium.
The bursary recipient will be notified of their acceptance on February 19th, 2018.
Confirmation of bursary and a letter of support can be provided for the recipient to apply for a travel grant, or other financial assistance.
This bursary is made possible from the sales of work donated for the Stella Motus community felt project at the 2016 Canadian Felt Symposium.

The felt :: feutre 2018 Canadian Felt Symposium will take place in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, from September 30 to October 6, 2018.
We have an exciting event planned with 5 days of workshops, artist talks, vendors, and an exhibition of works from talented Canadian feltmakers....
Workshop registration for felt :: feutre canada members opens on February 21, and general registration for non-members opens on March 1.
We have an exceptional line-up of internationally acclaimed workshop instructors.
The workshops run over five days, with both three day and two day classes with each instructor.
The workshops include an amazing array of felting techniques including garment making, structural bag making, sculptural headware, surface design in both 3 dimensional forms and 2D wall art, silk painting, and stunning landscape art.

The symposium will be held at the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. This is a wonderful venue, providing spacious classrooms, comfortable onsite accommodations and meals for the full symposium, all in a beautiful seaside setting at the southern end of the beautiful Annapolis Valley.

Leah runs ArtFelt Studio where she presents felting classes that directly relate to the Alberta school curriculum. For the past 14 years she’s been primarily a needle felter, Her interest in wet felting was renewed after taking two Master Workshops with Lyn Pflueger at Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) in Calgary.
