LOST PROPERTY at the event.... Not too bad this year, but we have a couple of items -one pair of children's ear defenders and an Aberdeenshire saltire card. If either might be yours please get in touch! DoB on the card is 18th August. We'll not dispose of anything, so it's here until collected!

So ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a firework display? Here's key member of the Fireworks Against Cancer team Gavin Reid of Greeness Handyman Services who doubles as a licenced firer, setting up the display on Saturday during the day- well away from the spectator area, after a weeks hard work with Fireworx Scotland planning the display, putting it all together & here, wiring it up for the night in-situe.

If you look carefully you will see the tubes that... launch the fireworks up into the air where they majestically transform into the wonderful scenes we saw on Saturday.

The fireworks are fired electronically so no matches are harmed in the making of the spectacular...
P.S. Although perfectly safe under strict regulatory controls, note the photograph is taken at a distance..... (!)

You know when it's dark & you've already donated all your notes & you get mugged by a bucket, so you tip your purse or wallet of loose change into it....? Well on Saturday this is what we collected... Tesco tokens, an old two shilling piece, some Euros, an old sixpence, 5 rand, 50 cents, 2 cents, a Blair Drummond safari park token, various supermarket trolley tokens, an Irish 50p, some krona & other bits & pieces including a couple of medallions!
... All donated unintentionally of course, so if you have lost a lucky coin, a favourite medallion, or potentially valuable (?) old coin, let us know & we'll return it... maybe
The collection is pictured below:

We should have the total donated to UCAN done by tomorrow- just waiting for another day to finish counting & to collect in other promised amounts. If you enjoyed the display seen over the skies of Turra from the comfort of your armchair, then please feel free to acknowledge the UCAN spectacular at our just giving page here:…/fireworksagainstcancer There is still time to donate yet- & to the residents local to the Den- apologies if we rattled the windows!

Shout out to Mr Wong & son Alec at Wong's Kitchen 24 High Street Turriff Tel: 01888 563 292. Alec & father collected a massive jar full of loose coins from generous customers and donated it to the UCAN fund- The jar contents totalled a massive £148-77. Plus Mr Wong generously donated a further amount by cheque.
He argued vehemently not to have his photograph taken as the donation was totally altruistic.... but we insisted!! Thank you guys & to your customers for your contribution. Very much appreciated.

Thanks to everybody for all for the donations, large or small every single one counts- and the counting is underway! So far it's looking very encouraging.... keep checking back for the totals which we'll be posting as soon as possible....
