We hosted my son’s graduation reception here and it was perfect! The people are great to work with and very friendly and the cost is very affordable. The facility is beautiful with all of the windows.

It is good kids have fun, but I feel it is a little too small for the price but over all it is a good place to have a family day!

Flint Hills Discovery center was good, but not great. The exhibits are fun but somewhat repetitive.

I love bringing my kids to the water fountain. Where they splash and have a ball.?We love the ambience inside and out!! See More

I have been to the FHDC several times and love it! I see something new every time and absolutely LOVE the movie! I thoroughly enjoy the festivals and events they host as well as all the friendly when I walk inside. The traveling exhibits room is so awesome, because they can have so many diverse topics and activities flow through. I would definitely recommend this place to any family, group of friends or adventurers! See More

We visited in September of 2015. We live in Southeast MO and visit Manhattan at least once a year to see family. I was very impressed with the video presentation. The landscape and history of the F...lint Hills is significantly different from anything we have experienced anywhere in MO. The video was visually appealing and informative. The addition of the wind element and the wiff of smoke was a creative way to help the viewer feel part of the landscape rather than just watching a presentation about a place.
When we moved on to the actual meat of the center, the interactive learning areas, I was impressed with how user friendly they were no matter the age of the "discoverer". My grand daughter, who had just turned 11 enjoyed and understood them as much as the adults in the group did.
There were numerous places to sit down which was appreciated. That enabled our group to take our time. Everyone was able to move at their own pace, further explore a particular interest without feeling that they must move along in order not to make those waiting for them uncomfortable.
The design of the whole space was visually appealing. I particularly appreciated the large photographs of the various elements found in the Flint Hills. The openness of the entire space flooded with light from all the glass recreated the open feeling we experience when outdoors.
The staff was friendly, pleasant and helpful. I have no doubt we will visit this place many more times in the future.

It was a THRILL to see an American Kestril and Eatern Screech Owl and baby opossom being trained for educational purposes as they are not able to be released back in the wild. The children I took were... absorbed in activities for 4 hours! Truely a fun day! See More

The kids (4, 6, and 7) had an excellent time! They were continuously occupied for several hours. The 4D film about the Flint Hills was marvelous and so informative. There were so many things I had idea about. Love being a Kansas resident now and can't wait to see what new and exciting displays will come! See More

First time in the Midwest traveling with family members so I had no car to get around in as they were getting her son enrolled in KSU. I was headed out around town to take photo's and was spoken to by... I believe her name was June or Judy that worked there and she told me that I should see this while there. I want to say thanks as I really enjoy reading about and see the displays of and about the Flint Hills. If I am ever able to go back I would go again as I believe it is offer good information about the Flint Hills. They had the Ice Age Imperial Exhibition there when I was there. Outstanding. I would recommend if you are out there then stop in and check it out. See More

What a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a person of history, who is included in the exhibit, actually be present at the opening and make his mark on our service map. Thank you for your lifetime of service, Jim Sharp.

A couple from Kansas City who write a travel blog called Our Changing Lives visited the FHDC a few weeks ago and wrote about their time with us. We love having travelers from out of town visit us! Read what they have to say by clicking the link ---->…/

We have visited Manhattan, Kansas many times in the past, but our trips were always concentrated on the local university. Once that association ended, we never seemed to find the time to return. On a warmer than normal winter day, we made the just under two hour drive... #featuredposts #manhattan
